First truck. 15 years old. Help please.
Well this is the reason I counsel my sons to choose their wives wisely as well as to wait until at least 25 to get married.
Since marriage is for life, as God commanded, nothing good will come from a divorce.
As a Christian I would like to see the Old Testament laws of stoning come back. At least 90% of marital issues are the wives problems. It started in the Garden of Eve and hasn't stopped.
Personally I would say suck it up and try to reconcile with your wife without giving up your authority as husband and father.

why don't you tell him to get a credit card and just put every mod he wants on there? I mean, if you're gonna go, go large or go home right? You're slipping from mildly amusing to downright stupid.
I'm sure you know everything don't ya? Even if you didn't know something, you're the type of guy to make stuff up just to try to make yourself look good aren't ya?
You've already demonstrated you don't know much about anything around here, like suggesting someone swap to 3.15 gears so they can get better gas mileage, or that women cause 90% of all marital problems. Yeah man, you've definitely got it all figured out.
You'll either be banned soon enough or people will just start to ignore you.

on a help forum, suggesting things to upgrade and noting some things I have/am upgraded/upgrading to show different ideas and you start conflict because of my emblems. cool bro. I'm putting my money into this because I want to. I work for it. It's a great feeling when you finish putting on a new mod.

i'm young myself (only 19 =/) and i have two 97's. One was given to me, the other i bought. And let me tell ya, dropping money into it isnt worth it unless you plan to drive it till it rots. I'm only currently modding one, and i plan to keep that one till its no longer driveable. The other, just until its served its purpose. So think about what ur planning on doing, and will it be worth it to YOU in the end. Otherwise, just leave it as is.
I love how every time a "youngin" asks a question on this forum they get flamed for something they have no control over. I don't care what any of you say, if you were 15-16 and your parents offered to buy you a nice truck, you would take it in a heartbeat. I was given a nice truck when I got my license, but I was also given a $330 truck note to go with it. I paid it off in 3 years and I still have it...I understand that it's tough to see someone who's not even half your age driving a truck thats just as nice, if not nicer than yours. But that's not reason to flame anyone for asking a simple question on a forum about TRUCKS. Don't get me wrong, I've met/wanted to punch several spoiled rotten punks in my day, but that's for a different thread.
To the OP: The pics of your truck wouldn't show up on my work computer, but I would definitely do like Zaairman said and do Tint/Exhaust. Those are the 2 mods that are never going out of style. If you just browse through the different forums you will have several years worth of mods that people have done.
Here's how I see it...You're young, this is your first truck and you should enjoy it. You have the rest of your life to be a responsible adult, but for now you should just have fun. Who cares if you spend $500 on something for your truck that you'll probably never get back. Once you get to college your priorities will change, not by choice. I've been in college for 4 years and haven't spent a penny on modifying my truck in 2 years.
Just remember, take care of your truck and it will take care of you

Sigh. It seems some of you have caught on, but for the rest of y'all here's the underlying issue: don't live beyond your means. A large portion of the US population doesn't understand that concept which is why you keep hearing ads on the radio for bankruptcy lawyers and why people have thousands of dollars in credit card debt. Same goes with the housing bubble issue, people buying expensive things thinking they'll be able to pay it off later.
Most high school kids don't make enough money to mod a vehicle, much less buy it or maintain it. If they were given a truck, great, lucky them. My parents gave me a beater car when I got my license so I could drive to school and work. I've got nothing against that.
Joefasho: You said you paid for everything besides your rims, what other mods have you done? Do you pay for gas, insurance, maintenance, taxes, inspections, etc as well?
I still think No Fear (and the like) stickers are lame, bro, but if you want to advertise your lameness to everyone else, that's totally your call!
But I guess the No Fear goes right with your attitude right?

Sorry you weren't accepted in high school NCSU. I've paid for my taillights, my bed rails, my flow master, my nerf bars, my gas, my grille, oil changes, brake tags, and the such. I do not pay insurance or taxes, no.

What makes you think that? I actually had a great time in HS... was a 4 year letterman, went to parties, got laid, drank beer, smoked pot and all that other "cool" HS stuff. What makes you so eager to prove your badassness? You might not believe it now, but 5 years after you graduate you probably won't see many people from your HS anymore, nor will you care about most of them. Unless you live in some po-dunk town and never go to college or move away. I guess HS matters there. I do find it amusing to listen to all the young people here who think they're the hottest poop on the planet and who come here to ask advice and opinions, then get all pissy when they hear something they don't want to. I'm surprised you haven't tried to defend putting in HID bulbs into stock housings somehow.
Your problem is you are trying to make yourself seem like something you're not.
Oh, you paid for everything else?
Oh right, those key things that legally allow you to drive and own a vehicle. But we'll just ignore those though so you can feel like you're doing everything on your own already.

guys quit fighting.
Long story short, people older than you are trying to impart some wisdom or knowledge to you, take it or leave it.
Don't get mad/upset because people disagree with you, and don't be surprised how bad and how fast you can rice out anything.
Just because someone does not agree with what you are doing does not make it wrong or stupid, maybe they don't like it.
Or maybe there is a reason.
Whatever the case, all anyone here is doing is offering advice and thoughts. Don't get snappy, and don't try to argue with anyone here, especially the few who really know what they are talking about. Stick around long enough and you will find out who they are.
If someone disagrees with you, or what you want to do, ignore them. Don't flame them, or poke at them. Thats useless.
like I said before, and now.
If I was you, and knowing what I know now I would NOT put much more than a few $100's in the truck on extras.
You will end up getting rid of it, or totaling it out. Save that money up for later.
Every time you go to buy something for the truck, think about if its a want or need, if you still end up trying to get the "want" save that money back and think about it for a day or two. You have time, and there is always someone (or some place) else selling that item.
In the end, if you put that money back that you would have spent up in a savings account, in a few years you might be able to trade up and put a lot of cash down, or walk away owing nothing.
What ever you do, Good luck.
Mike.
*Edit*
besides, looks like NSCU has got you on the ropes, don't get mad, don't try to act like more than you are. Everyone here is more than willing to accept you for who you are and what you have, regardless of who paid for it.
Just let it go, maybe say you are sorry and go on.
But pissing people off here is bad in the long run, one day you might need advice, or help and the one person who could have helped you may have been the very one you pissed off.

P.S
Hind sight is 20/20, some of us have been there.
i know i have.
I made VERY bad choices on my first car (1997 grand am 3.1L green 2-door 120K miles), some of us are trying to help you avoid the same mistakes we made.
Its up to you in the end though.

I think that you covered everything that I wanted to say, plus some!
OP: I know that this sounds vague, but try to stay open minded here. There will be a lot of stuff that you agree with, and a lot that you don't. But it's the internet, and therefore it's impossible to "win" a fight. Just learn what you can. I've been a member here for over a year, and I was lurking even before that. I can honestly say that without this forum most of my mods either wouldn't exist, or would be very, very different.
As I said earlier, Titan really covered what I wanted to say. Enjoy your stay, and learn what you can!
EDIT: One other thing that I wanted to say. I'm a college student and so my budget is very limited. Even though I've been modifying since day one, it's only been at $20 at a time. While going slow can be frustrating, it really makes you think about exactly what you want. Do drawings, do photochops, talk to your friends, post here. Get your ideas down before you start spending money, it will help out in the long run.

On the decals I've only put one on the back window and that was for the F-150online.com because I love this place. It feels like another home to me. Sometimes I get picked on by my "bigger brothers" about what I want to do with my truck but then after I rethink it I realize maybe they are right or I just go with what I wanted to do anyways. Because I do what I want. haha. My real life friends pick on me because I visit this site so much.
Do what you want to the truck, so your parents pay for some stuff on it, you are a teenage kid, you can't afford everything. I am 18 and just out of high school. I work a lot, and I still have trouble affording everything day to day, besides rent, which I don't have to pay. I pay for my clothes, food, I have been saving for 3 years for a truck, and am about 2 weeks away from buying a 20K truck with mostly cash. Maybe some of the haters here forget that kids can't get well paying jobs 99% of the time, and while you are still in school, you can not work too many hours at a job.
wow i feel like im reading the facebooks of bickering 15 year olds. With that said, besides tint and exhaust like mentioned earlier, I wouldn't put much into your truck. The only thing I would do is maybe an upgrade in audio equipment since most of that can be transfered to your next truck.
