im from avon, mass. Im 17 y/o senior and paid for my truck, all the modifications and parts, repairs, gas and insurance. That what happens when you come from a family that teaches its kids to have good values and to know that hard work can pay off. Im into my truck for about 10,000. My truck is my daily driver and my wheelin' rig. so what i ever i break i pay for to fix. It doesnt have the nicest paint, and its got rust, but she wont die.

My Dad let me drive his Dodge D50 (Mini Truck built by Mitsubishi).
I bought a Chevy Luv for $700. It was owned by a house painter. GUess how many colors were on the bed...
I also bought a Suzuki GS400 (Motorcycle) for $900.
I ended up selling the Luv for $1,300 and the bike for $800 and bought a Suzuki GS750 new. It was $3,000 total. I had to finance about $900 for a year. I rode it for about 6 years. I also added a new Toyota P-U to the fleet eventually.
This is where I got really stupid. My dad had a 1959 Chevy El Camino before the D50. He never liked it. He sold it for about $750 when I was 15. It ran decent. It had a slight rod bearing noise and a really heavy clutch and a poorly installed shift kit. It started life as a 3 speed column shift and was converted to a floor shift. The engine was a 327. The body and interior were pretty good. No sign of any major repairs. I should have bought this car and kept it. The repairs could probably have been made for a few hundred dollars. I am guessing I would have made a few dollars on it.
I paid for all my stuff.

Just ticks me off when older people say nice daddy and mommy bought it for you? Just ticks me off! Kids have no repsect. Yeah I am a kid at 18 however I fit the bill for my truck, quad, mods and schooling now. yeah I have a kick *** job at a civil engineering firm making great money for my age.
Well then good for you!! You're one of the few, and the experience will make you a better person down the road. Think about it for a minute though, how many 16-18 year olds can really afford to buy even a $25,000 vehicle, pay the insurance, gas, maintenance, etc? Not as many as actually have new trucks, with 6" lifts and 35" tires, etc.

What do you do for the civil firm? I'm a mechanical engineer and the youngest person in our office is probably 24.

Man, I love the all black look. I'm just trying to achieve this on my 04' Heritage, I can't find a black bumper or grille, at all.

I'm not a highschooler, I'm only 18 though. College boy here..

Nice deal man! I grew up around Detroit, so both my parents were involved in the Auto Industry too, but as advertisers.

What kinds of inspections? I dabble in them myself.

What do you want to after all that? It seems like just a little overkill

i'm 18 and my dad found the truck for 15 grand two years ago. i work in his commpany and have been busting my *** working in his company for as long as i can remember. I pay for everything. I have a couple lawns i cut in the summer and work many hours in the summer also do various work in the winter by selling split wood. I would never want anything without paying for it. i'd rather work for something than have it given to me. it makes it feel that much better rolling up to school or cruising with the music high in something that you know u paid for!!!!!!

Cool deal, I occasionally lead underwater inspection teams.

College is fun, no doubt. But to get all those degrees you'd be at least 35 years old by the time you're done! 7 years of school was more than enough for me. Trust me, 30 year olds have much less fun in college b/c all the 18 year old look at them as old men Besides, you need to have work experience, which is just as, if not more, important than your degree.

Gimme a PM if you wanna chat about it.
