16.77 to 16.06
Well, I'm back from the track tonight. I was hoping to break into the 15's but it didn't happen. Truck is an '06 Supercrew.
My previous runs were 16.93 @ 83.31 and 16.96 @ 83.01 with a best was a 16.77 @ 83 with the following:
K & N drop in filter
custom 2.5" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler
Edge Evo on level 2 - didn't have 93 in
18" oem lariat wheels
3.55 stock gears
This time I went back with:
AF1 3.5"
Troyer Xcal 3 - 93 performance
same exhaust
4.10 Precision Gears
OEM 20" wheels
Ran a best of 16.060@ 86.18 followed by a 16.078 @ 86.10
Dammit! lol I'm positive if I was still running the 18's I would have been in the 15's. The 20's are so damn heavy. But my goal was to get it running in the 15's with the 20's. But had I had the 20's on the old setup I think I would have run a 17, so really I dropped my 1/4 about 1 sec which isn't bad to me.
Either way I had fun. Then my buddy let me drive his '06 Chevy 2500 on 33's for a few runs. It has an Edge Evolution as the only mod running level 3. The first pass I made a 15.4 @ 90 Then a 15.3 The third time I power braked it before I went out and launched harder. I ran a 14.89 @ 90 followed by a 14.99 @ 90. I was really impressed with a 14.8. Crazy for a 7,000 lbs truck with just an Edge on 33's.
What's funny is on the way home we did 3 highway rolls - one from 45, 35, and 25. Everytime I pretty much stayed neck and neck with him and he would start creeping away but not hard like I thought he would. We usually shut down around 85 and his rear bumper would be at my front headlight or so. I thought he would have pulled a lot harder than that considering the time difference. My only thought was that his truck launches well off the line where as mine doesn't do anything. You floor it and it just starts to go and takes awhile to get into the power band. Either way I was more happy on the highway runs afterwards knowing what his truck had just done. If I can almost keep up with that on the street I might not shy away from a Tundra next time I see one.
I had told myself I was done with this truck but I'm really wanting to see a 15 number with the way I run it. If I put the 18's on, removed spare and tailgate I know I would be in the 15's for sure but that's not the same. I may just have to get E-fans and pulleys to finish it off. We'll see.
Each run I held the brake as much as possible to get it going. Not sure if that helped out or not. Either way I had fun.
All runs were at Bithlow.

Really??, I found with mine if I power brake the launch I run 18.0x, if I just punch it from idle I run 18.2-18.4.
I always thought if you get the rpm up at launch its faster?
Yeah I know 18 WHAT?? you say...but the mods are planned for the spring.
