Your best buddy buddy here.

Steve:
Got problems, lots of problems.

As you have done, try to help us help you.

As one individual, I have changed everything I could in my settings and it still gives problems.

As a total idiot when it comes to the internet I can only surmise that your new server program has some issues that you perhaps have not had to deal with before.

Bottom line for me is it is not working like it should.

Let us help you where we can.
Bill

Bill,

Try giving this a shot. It is possible that your PC still thinks that F150online is on the old server, so when you try to access it, it goes there, realizes it made a mistake and then finally gets here.

1) Click "Start"
2) Click "Run..."
3) Type "cmd" (hit enter - if cmd does not work, try "command")
4) Type ipconfig /flushdns (hit enter)
5) Type ipconfig /registerdns (hit enter)
6) Type "exit" (hit enter)
7) Close and re-open your browser.

If that doesn't work...

1. Find hammer
2. Locate duct tape
3. Beat computer repeatedly with hammer
4. Reassemble with duct tape (please note, glue is not an acceptable product to utilize on your computer)
5. Reboot.

Bill, keep in mind that there is always a caveot with these things. If you attempt to speed up access to this site, you could end up slowing down access to other sites...at least until you visit them again and Windows "learns" their information again. And, while this may speed up access to this site, I don't think it will change what is going on with AOL's mail. You will likely need to contact AOL and find out why our mail is being blocked.

Steve:

As you know, I am not beating up on you, just trying to get to the bottom of this silly stuff.

As it works perfectly on MSN and BellSouth, I will just carry on that way and I have activated those accounts on the office PC and my laptop so I am covered.

What confuses me is that I tried virtually every site that I have bookmarked (hundreds) that offer email notification on their bulletin boards and every one of them works on AOL and that includes sites located in Sweden, Russia, Thailand and Peru to name a few and one would think those would get blocked at least at first. I also searched the area in my AOL spam system that tells me every URL that I have reported as spam and is therefore forever blocked and you are not on the list {could have hit the wrong button accidently).

I would suggest no more action on your part but I will do the following. I will do the internet help thingie with AOL although it boils my blood every time I get an Indian whose English is quite stilted and overly full of apologies and I am going to post in the GD forum to ask if anyone else with AOL 9.0 is having the same problem.

If I get an answer from India I will let you know.

AAAH Steve:

Contacted AOL online help and I did not get India, I got the Philippines. Lovely lady who could not help, the Indians cannot help either.

Side note, my mother was born in the Philippines in 1917 the daughter of a US Navy Officer and an American lady, his wife.
So, we did not solve the AOL problem but had a good chat about her country.

So, while I still will have to access the site from other sources, I got a contact from my distant past which will be interesting to follow up. The lady, by the way, is only 10 years older than my oldest granddaughter, 22. As such, she has only an historical perspective of the situation of her country as an American protectorate from the Spanish/American War to the occupation by Japan and the subsequent eventual process that led to the US taking over again and finally the country becoming a Republic on it's own.

You never know what you will run into on this site and I always enjoy not only the normal stuff but also the surprises.
