Thumbs up 54,000 and still going strong

My truck has 54,000 miles on it now and still going strong and no major problems as of yet I'm happy to say my truck is one of the good ones.

One of the good ones?!? That's just sad...my Volvo just turned over 300,000 miles and still pulls a 3000lb boat...oh, and it's the original engine, trans, etc.

Maybe you should raise your expectations a bit?

I am sure that volvo has been thru 2 feet of water , hill climbs offroad like a billy goat , carries a yard of sand with 5 passengers and 2 dozen 2x4s . Not to mention with a trailer with 2 dirtbikes all at the same time . Or are you towing the boat from the storage lot to the boat ramp ?

300,000 Miles.......That's just sad. Maybe if you ask the boss for the night shift, 7-11 would give you a raise so you could afford a new car.

Angry

I'll never forget when I was going down the road and my truck hit 36,001 miles. My cell phone rang and the caller didn't identify himself but, I recognized the voice as my Ford dealer Service Writer.
All he said was, "Sucka!!!" and hung up.

I immediately drove over there and accused him of the call but, he kept denying it.
I finally left and as soon as I stepped outside I heard the whole service bay erupt in laughter.

I peeked in the window and all the techs were laughing, slapping each other on the back and giving each other high fives. Even young Tony the kid that washes and parks the cars was laughing.
(I was crushed)

Don't say Volvo is a Ford

It took months for my wife to forgive and then believe me when I told her Ford bought Volvo. She still seethes when I call her S70 the Swedish Taurus (and yes, I know it's built in Belgium...but I just can't stand the pseudo-Frog implications). We picked up her last Volvo in Gotesburg in 1985 on our son's first birthday. He drove it for a while (griped about the stanfdard tranny) until I bought him the 2000 Focus. But that 740 GLE never had an oil spot; engine untouched; ran like a striped ape; nary a sound; and was more protection for my precious cargo than anything around. If only we had a Volvo mechanic close, I'd still have it. No one in the boondocks around Fort Leonard Wood will touch one. VWs, neither.

Pls note on the Ford webpage that all the owned logos are displayed....guess which one comes first? Ford? No. Mercury? Nope. Answer: it's the ugly one from up North.:o

Ok..I won't say it to you.....but it is still a Ford <g>

Funny enough it is Volvo then Mazda....then Lincoln, then Ford.

I guess Bill Ford has them listed by gross profit margin...<g>

Yeah, few years ago, FORD went bizerk buying up other labels. Heck, visit ford's website and you have to choose on what brand you actually want to check out... it doesn't take you straight to a TARUS or an EXPLORER...

You have to choose from JAG, MAZDA, FORD, ETC...

I think you're right, it's all about the profit margin.

Co. that I work for has a 97, F-150 SC, 4.6L that is about to turn 193,000 miles. No major problems with this vehicle. Still has the orginal battery, starter, water pump & fuel pump. Truck still has original trans., diff., rear brakes, etc.

No pun intended; however, the GM trucks that our branch has owned do not hold a candle to the overall durability of Ford trucks that we have owned.
