Mirror styles on a 95

I've seen two different side mirror styles on a 1995 f-150. I have the older looking style

and then their is the newer looking style:

Both are XLT and I was just wondering if it is possible to go from the older to the newer. And whas theis an option or why do some have the new and some don't?

Thanks,

Blaze

I believe it was an option, i have the second type, but they're peeling(paint) and my driver side one is broke under the bottom. I think on yours, where it mounts at the top, is where the others(mine) mount

Thanks! It's mostly stock. I want to get a new set of Mud Kings and some true dual exhausts for it but as we all do... i need the money first!

Just a mid warning, a friend of mine has some Mud Kings on his 4X4 S-10 and they are NOISY! He said they also wear bad.. true dual would sound very good. If you aren't going to do "mudding" but the occasional mud and sand or snow and stuff, i would look into BFGoodrich All Terrain T/As, they wear really good and great all around traction. i've got some, but not put them on yet, along with wheels.. I'm not trying to take u away from what you like, but, they're mud tires so, they're good for mud and offroad, but not on..

Check out my gallery to see the tires I have on their now. Their some cheap mud tire but they are noisy too. I'm used to it. I've thought about the BFG Mud Terrian. They noisy too?

Thanks,

Blaze

just about any mud tire is gonna be noisy due to the space between the lugs. the BFG mud terrains are noisy, but its not TERRIBLE. ive never heard mud kings so i couldnt compare them.

For some reason, the images won't load for me. I went to your gallery to see the mirrors you currently have, but I'm not sure what the ones you are referring to as "newer" look like. Below is a picture of the side of my '95, and you can see it's mirror (lousy pic, but it's the only one I have on my site with the mirror in it). It's chrome and black plastic.

Not sure if this helped or not.

Take care,
-Chris

If I had some "new mirrors" I would trade you straight up. But as it is, I'm glad I have the "older mirrors". They're more rugged. I clipped a brick post @ 20-30 mph with my mirror. The mirror is fine, just a tiny scratch on the support. Put a little ding in the door beneath the window from when the mirror swung around. With these fancy new mirrors, with their electronic controls and all that, I have a feeling I would have had to fork out some cash for a new mirror. But hey, if the newer mirrors are built to "Ford tough" specifications, then all the better

I posted this about a month or 2 ago but since we're on the subject.

I've got the same mirrors on my 96 as in PKRWUD's pic, and about 2 months ago I was driving to get some food for lunch and my mirror sideswiped a UPS truck at about 50mph parked half way in the lane. I heard a loud crash and I pulled over. My mirror folded in like it supposed to,so I pushed it back and the glass was cracked a little but other then that everything was fine...no scratch,no dent and the electronic moving crap all still works.
FORD TOUGH? I think so.
New glass for the mirror was $35 at the dealership. Not bad
