phenolic spacers for manifolds

do these work? i stumbled upon these on the trick flow website and saw that they make some for ford truck 5.0 applications. are they worth the money? which one works better, the 3/8" or the 1" spacer? they look like an easy upgrade. any input? thanks!

They don't do much performance wise on fuel injected engines.

They may help prevent intake leaks, though, if used a a very thick gasket

I have a related question, figured I'd post it in this thread:

I assume you guys are talking about spacers going between the TB and the upper intake manifold.

Has anybody tried a spacer (available from Ford Racing) between the upper and lower intake manifolds? I think the theory is that it allows for a cooler air/fuel mixture.

the one im talking about goes between the upper and lower intake manifold (check out the web page i posted). it has been proven that the ones between the manifold and tb dont help performance.

My bad

My bad. The thread that was linked to in bjoern's post talked (at least in a couple of it's posts) about the Poweraid spacer, so I was confused.

Bump for more opinions.

I've never heard of anyone gaining any noticable power from adding one. The main reason they are used is so that the taller valve covers, needed when adding roller rocker arms, will fit without hitting the intake.

Take care,

Neal's last post in the quoted thread applies to the spacers between upper and lower intake, I'd say.

Yeah, this is what threw me off:

"I took my POWERAID spacer and had the spiral machined out of it, and t hen polished it. I installed it on my truck at the dragstrip and got NO gain what so ever. No better throttle responce or anything"

By Neal in bjoern's link. Sorry for the confusion, guys. Anyways good input as I was considering a phenolic spacer on the ol' 302
