Looking at buying a 1992 F150-questions...

Looking at a 1992 F150 xlt 4.9l i6 5spd 4x2. Good shape and the guy is asking $4000 for it.

1. It needs an a/c recharge. Did the 92's have r-134a?

2. Power window gets stuck on way up and needs help (need to pull it) any idea what causes this?

Thanks,

Martin

probably need to replace the power window motor. i did it on my truck, pretty easy job. i think i paid 70 bucks for the motor (it wasnt brand new, it was rebuilt, but works like a charm).

Sounds like a decent price. I bought the same truck last year for $5000. It's a great truck for hauling and towing, the I6 is the most reliable engine you'll find. The only downside is if you get interested in performance there isn't too much stuff available for that engine. As for the power window, could be a weak motor, maybe the track isn't straight or maybe a little silicone lube on the weatherstripping would help it move along better.

It's not r134a, its freon, but you can have it converted pretty cheap, or just put freon back in.

Like i said, it's a great truck, mines never broken down. It just gets expensive and addicting to do performance upgrades. After i bought my truck i joined this website. I started out with a K&N airfilter, now i have put $5000 into the suspension, $1500 into the stereo, $2000 on chrome appearance stuff, it's getting painted this spring, i'm also converting to 4x4, building a hi performance engine and transmission, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
