Question Tailgate panels?

Hey is there anyone out there that sells aftermarket tailgate panels? I found a new tailgate on ebay for $129 free shipping, then looked at my LMC catalog for the panel, and they're selling them for $699!!!!!

You mean the piece that goes over the tailgate or a tailgate metal skin?

Have you tried looking at a junk yard for one in good shape? Sometimes there are treasures hidden in those places...

I'm gonna shop around at the junk yards this weekend. If I don't find one in good shape I'll just have a blank tailgate
I'm surprised with as many pre-'97 trucks still around, there's no aftermarket panels out there.

For some reason to lmc those things are made of gold.
I personally like my truck without it and I would sell you mine, but I'm not so sure about shipping one of those.
Your best bet is probably like roush said, just try to find one in good shape.
What happened to yours?

Becareful with the clips that hold it onto the tailgate. From what I understand they're about impossible to find.

I'm thinking about just going with keeping the tailgate blank. As for what happened to mine: I bought the truck right before christmas, so it's new to me. The tailgate is in very bad shape (dents everywhere!) and the panel looks like it has been ripped off before (lol). Only half of the black insert is there.
I plan to have it painted the first week of Feb.; next week it's going to the shop for the steering problems (tie rods, ball joints, idler arm, and whatever else).

Mine is in perfect shape excluding one tiny little dent you can barely see, but the one on my truck is the older style and it has a big red reflector across the back not the black like yours and I think the older body style looks better with the letters painted in than with a beauty panel, I have a picture here somewhere...

Once my truck is painted and I for sure like it without the panel I'll be selling mine.

Thanks, I'm gonna walk through the junkyards here this weekend. If I don't find one and my mechanic doesn't hurt me to bad next week, I'll pm you about price and shipping.

If need be I could get you one from a junkyard around here.
I see at least ten of these trucks on my 5 mile drive to school everyday, let alone elsewhere if you look.
I know of at least 5 trucks identical to mine within a 20 minute area.

The plastic clips that hold F-series t/g trim on are unbelievably fragile, and irreplaceable. The metal Bronco clips aren't interchangeable; nor are the Bronco trim panels.

I've shipped several of these panels without any problems - just pack it well & mark it fragile.
