I got 12 mpg with my 5.8l 2wd F150, and I get 11 mpg in my 5.0l 4wd F150 (10 mpg on the hwy ). Your truck's doin' what most of 'em do.

Ive got the same truck as the post above with 3.55 rear end, 6in of lift, 35 m/ts, E-fans, and a K&n air filter. The e-fans on these older trucks eventually pay for themselves, we have the HEAVY metal fan that is run off the engine. I would say that makes a 2mpg difference. My truck if I accelerate slow I can keep it around 1200 rpms and get a consistant 10-11 mpg. When I tow it can go as low as 4 mpg. But when I install headers and a chip I expect to get in the ball park of 12-13, because I need more power with my gears. More power equals less rpms which is less fuel consumed.

I have a '95 302 XLT Shorty 2WD, with 3:08 rear end, and get around 14MPG in combined driving conditions. Probably get around 6% better, but I have larger tires on it and havent compensated for the difference. I just put a tonneau cover on it, and noticed a 1-2 MPG increase. Not much better, but noticeable.

Good Luck!

'95 F150 SC Flareside with a 5.8 and E40D, I've been getting about 15 MPG combined with 10% ethanol, just under 17 with regular. After doing the math, ethanol costs $0.20 per mile, regular about $0.17.

Yeah ethanol isnt cheaper in the long run. We have one pump in the city here (across town) and its only about 10 cents cheaper than regular. But it gets worse gas mileage. So if you do the math on every vehicle ethanol isnt worth it. Except for the part of being a renewable source of energy. Have you made your truck able to run on E-85? Cuz other wise i dont think you should be......

Just rebuilt my 94 4x4 5.8 and got 11.5 on the first tank. I think my 04 gets 14.
