Plug Wires

have a 94 F150 302/5.0 and going to replace the plug wires. Any suggestions on which wire set is best (i.e.. ACCEL, Troyer....)?

wires

Autolite Professional Series is what i put on my 97 4.6 a couple months ago. Real high quality wires at a decent price plus a lifetime warranty. And if you buy them at Autozone/Advance/O'Reillys there is usually a rebate coupon in their rebate display for them.

I've found that the 302's run best for me with the standard Motorcraft wires and plugs. Haven't noticed a difference between motorcraft and napa brand cap and rotar though.

9mm ford racing wires and the cheapest motorcraft plugs is what you want. Best for 302/351/300.
Might as well get a MSD rotor and dist. cap for 20 bucks, and a msd coil. I would seafoam the truck through the brake booster and gas tank before you change the plugs, because it tends to foul plugs. Also change the fuel filter incase the seafoam cleaned some crap out of your tank.

Thanks All. I had done the seafoam but did not know it would foul the plugs.
Also do the new wires eliminate crossfiring or do you have to run them as the specs say.

Seafoam does not foul plugs, at least in my expirience. I agree though, go ahead and do the ignition upgrade, it is well worth it.

I gotta be honest, after watching Seafoam do it's stuff, I figured the plugs would be fouled for sure, but they weren't. Not at all. Seems like they would be, but not in my experience.

Plug wires: I currently use Taylor wires, but my favorites were Accel 300+ wires. They were bulletproof. I wouldn't spend the money for either for a stock truck, but I had both sets around the shop at the time, so I used them.

Plugs: I've tried so many different types of plugs, I can't even name them all. The plugs that consistantly make the most noticeable improvement, in my truck, are Champion Truck Plugs.

Coil: I'd avoid MSD coils if I were you. They have a bad habit of becoming "buzzing" coils. Not always, sometimes they'll go for years without making any noise at all, but more often than not, MSD coils end up becoming noisy. I put a Crane coil in my truck 8+ years ago, and it's been flawless ever since.

Cap & Rotor: Look for a cap with brass contacts in it. They cost a couple bucks more, but they last longer.

And yes, regardless of which wires you buy, you still need to keep them separated from each other between the cap and the plugs to avoid possible crossfiring. In your case, it's particularly important with wires #5 & #6. Using wires with a thicker jacket will reduce the chances, but they should still be separated.

I went with the 9mm Ford Racing wires from summit racing. I also replaced the plugs, Motocraft. The old ones were not fouled but since I had them out I went with the new ones. Also found the distributer cap was loose and had to replace the cap adapter (rotor and cap are brass). It is running so much smoother now.

Thanks for help!
