1994 mass air flow sensor

my trucks check engine light is always coming on after i drive for 5 minutes. and it does not idol extremely smooth i was thinking about cleaning the mass air flow sensor. is this hard and do you think it is worth it? And yes I am to cheap to get the code checked.

Wellllll, some autozones can do OBDI trucks, and they do it for free so check em out.

Furthermore, before guessing at one of the 100 things that could set of the light, you can simply pull the codes yourself in five minutes.

luckily i can have my truck on a lift or scan it anytime i want with work..... my CEL does the same thing i ran into a bad EGR valve and then it is casuing it to throw a code for a bad MAF. I think the only problem is my EGR. Just telling you i think it has to do with the EGR they have a habbit of going bad. I plan on blocking mine off so i can get some more power

Cleaning and/or replacing the mass air flow sensor is easy. Symptoms very rough idle, ran fine at high speed. I first tried to clean it, which helped somewhat. But eventually replaced it (around $60 at Advance Auto with core turn in).
