Yes, pointing out hypocricy, again. Another voice from the Tea Party. Nope, not the made up villian in DC, the actual political movement taking part throughout this country.

There are so many examples showing that reason is colorless, just as hypocricy is. It's just a shame that so many people choose to ignore them.

Isn't that the same as the thread here that so many of you found fault with that said, "All Republicans"?

I don't think either characterization is fair or valid. When someone generalizes like that, I tend to discount the source as hopelessly biased. And, I don't take the rant seriously. I didn't when it was a thread about "All Republicans", and I don't do it now when it's about "All Democrats".

I know too many good and thoughtful people in both camps.

A former co-worker of mine (who is black) once told me that the Democratic party uses race and class warfare to keep black people down so they can get their votes. He told me this about 15 years ago or so. He was and still is a very hard working person that owns his own home, cars, boat, and turbocharged Hayabusa race bike last time I saw/talked to him.

 

Good point Jack. I have always found that when it comes to groups of people you really can't use the collective "all". Setting that aside, as any critical thinker should, the points he is making are valid. You can't throw the baby out with the bath water when listening to either side's arguement. (Jessee Jackson, Maxine Waters, and so on are exceptions to that rule)!

I'm not going to watch the whole thing again, but I think the overall reference was to the Democrat Party and their chosen leaders (for many years) and not the individual "all" in the Democrat Party.

Christians were lost souls who had to be broken to be saved and will probably need to continue to be broken for the rest of their lives. They were lost sheep being devoured constantly by sin and a bruised conscience. Lost sheep in need of a shepherd and when they “saw the light” they confessed and believed in their hearts and then begin a new life. Let those who know their way or who at least have learned enough lead.

JackandJanet, had you noticed that the guy you hear saying "all democrats" is some Tea Party guy in front of a camera, while the hypocrisy was taking place at a political forum, with elected representatives referring to all republicans, or "the tea party"?

Had you noticed a high level union representative at a Obama campaign event talking of going to war with republicans. About "taking them out"? Obama then followed, praising this individual.

You have a point, but like you said, look at the sources.

 

Silver from your rant is sounds like you are Using Christians and Baptists interchangeably. There are more to Christians than just Baptists. Although they seem to be the only ones who claim to be Christian when asked their religion. Everyone else says which church i.e. Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic, etc. Not all Christians believe you have to be "broken" before you can be a true Christian. In all of my travels the only sect I've come across that believes in and makes a big deal of a rebirth after infancy is the Baptists.

 

Ah yes, Calvinism at it's finest.

 

The venue of the youtube rant was not lost on me Witt, nor were the obvious political leanings of the "ranter". I simply wanted to point out the "All Democrats" piece.

Silver, the tone of your post is rather obviously "All Christians", even though you seem to soften it slightly toward the end. I find that just as objectionable. But, I recognize that this is YOUR opinion, just as the "All Democrats" and "All Republicans" themes are opinions held by others. And, we can never fault anyone for having opinions, can we? We can, however disagree with them.

I'd actually much rather work with someone who "has an opinion" than someone who "has no opinion", or is too timid to express it. Unless we can examine these opinions, we'll never find the truth. (And the truth is always there somewhere.)

I guess so and I don't really care. That's what pushed my button and I did not care if he was discussing how to grill a chicken :-) It was something that was on my mind.

I tend to think of myself as someone who has nothing to offer society but I rarely run across someone that is truly more advanced than myself and has anything really worth listening to. So it's kind of equal.

If I put too much thought in my posts I would never get any attention.

 

JandJ, I'm trying not to do that so much but I just get so mad. You're right about stereotyping, my post was easy pickings.

I felt so much better by being able say it though.

I am more impressed that you read my post and tried at all to sort out my dribble and posted a non insulting reply. Maybe you are someone worth listening to.

 

I just don't know. I look at Christianity and sometimes I see it as a swimming pool that no one should ever pee in but everybody's peeing in the pool all the while trying to get more people to come into the pool.

Baptist and all the rest. They are all the same to me. Everyone trying to get into heaven by pleasing men.

 

If ever I was going to be anything it would be Calvinist, whatever that is.
