Nice Thread...First couple of pages had me worried...I was thinking everybodies paint is way to clean for an off road thread...Most looked like dailey driving around the farm from one field to the other. Some scenes even looked better than my drive way. Then the off roaders kicked in and showed some playing in the mud....Yea buddy, thats 4x4.
Rock crawling is 4x4 too, but as the name of it implies you are litterally crawling. I personally have a need for speed and the sound of a motor at high RPM's is great. I also enjoy seeing crap fly through the air. So muddy river bottums are my kind of fun! If you are able to see more paint than mud afterwards, then you were not Four Wheeling. Sorry but putting it in 4 wd on a dirt road, just does not count!
This pic was after playing one night I tore the front end out of it during this excursion $300 and 1 week of waiting on parts and labor later it was on the road again. This pic was taken after 2 days of rain had cleaned alot of the dirt off. Most of the mud was clumps of red clay mud the smallest being the size of a fist covering our rides. You can see my buddies 78 Chevy in the back ground he had come to help me fix it the first nice day we had. NO garage! LOL
Now how I tore the front end out of it...It was raining of course and several of the other youth leaders at my church and I with 4x4's were taking several of the teens out for thier first time 4X4 experinces. I dove in to a small natural pond with my group to test the gound out. About half way through, it wasnt more than 3 foot deep but I suddenly lost most of my speed. So I grabbed a higher gear and floored it. Didn't help much but was still moving so backed out of the gas and held the Speedo at 45mph, Jeep was moving less than 10. Finnally came out on the other side and was pushing a log threw the mud in front of me. It bent the tie rod and while replacing it I noticed the whole front end had what I thought was slighlty exessive slop in it so I just rebuilt it all while I was there. So much fun so little time!
Go to http://www.kcareaexplorers.com/forums/index.php they talk about a place about 40 miles north of KC that is a free off road park. From the pics it looks like a lot of fun.

this is the Missouri chapter of Ford Truck World. Somebody there will be able to help you find a place in or around KC to go.

My dad and I have only taken the Ford once, but we've taken the Chevy about 3 times a year since we bought it new in 96. Sure is lots of fun, and we've never gotten stuck with either truck.
Wish I had some pics too share...

I've never been duning either...Would love to some time but the only sand we have around her is small patches of silt next to the rivers..."AKA quick sand" It is ussally just about the size of a truck and sometimes 4-5' deep or more but enough to swallow a truck! So ussally unless we feel like getting out and walking through it then we drive around them! Because our mud tires are thin to cut through the mud and get to dry ground for traction but we can not push that much mud if it hapens to be a deep one and the small tire have NO float time in it! LOL
