Well, just keep in mind - They may not be designed for that kind of stress, there's NO reason for it. Whether it can take it or not, I guess you found that out - 3 times over.
You might want to think about a couple Ford 9" third members, they will take abuse. I used those without ANY problems w/44" GH's in an 89.

i dont think downshifting is that hard on the rear end at the mentioned speeds. rather i think its harder on the u-joints and companion flange and the slipyoke.
as far as neutral slamming or whatever their term was, bull****. i personally think that will eat a trans before a set of bolts back there. those bolts are designed for some real good tensile strength for a reason. i do not and will not replace them with grade 8 bolts, i will continue to pay $3.30 a bolt for those particular bolts. i believe they supply grade 8 bolts?

my last 2 rearend blew out because the power of the motor took out the gears over time... they start wearing and then get weak and chip...
O and the fact there cheap gears
this time was not like the others... this was a installers error or a defective part..
the limited slip/the whole chunk deal... is bent.. i was going to weld it today "ring/limitedslip" but me and my buddy both know that the gears
would be shot by tomarrow... so no point...
My buddys going to lend me a ford 9 to put in so i can get around untell i can
find a 9.75 to rebuild.
And moneys not a problem just i invest my money and i dident think
i would end up spending as much money as i have in the past month.
As for the bolts im not sure if they are grade 8 or higher....
but 5 of the bolts broke... the rest came out befor it broke
O ya and i have a feeling that the bolts were bending back and forth befor they snaped...
stress facter on bolts..... i think it makes sence

Yea , you'll prolly be alright with a 9.75 in there. They go even taller 10.? in the 3/4 & 1 tons come to think of it. - Probably for good reason.

they have lightningz running 600-1000hp with the 9.75 so i dont feel i need to go bigger...
i want to do as less fabbing as i can
plus if i go to a 8 lug i will have to get new rims or spacers and to make my 5x135 go to 8x*** would cost like a grand... the spacers cost alot..
But converting from 8 to 5 might not cost to much....

uh dont weld carrier to pinion... if you do anything with a welder in the rear regarding the ring gear, you just tack the bolt heads so they have to break welds to back out.
your a step ahead of me, my 8.8 is still kickin so im still running it. go for the 9.75 its pretty similar to a d60 rear.

this thread is funny because i know what happen is not my falt...
i started this to ask a simple question.
What could snap or brake inside the rear end at once..
But then people started saying learn how to spell and saying things like
thats what u get for downshifting...
Auto downshifting will not left you downshift to soon...
manual trans do the same thing...
people dont care

Its not all what your saying, just kinda this thread in general. Not a personal attack bud, by any means. I couldn't care less on spelling and what not.
