Yes, the pins should be thoroughly cleaned and coated with a thin film of Sil-Glyde. It's sold at NAPA. You should also use it on everything in the brake system that moves including the backs of the pads. Just don't get any on the rotors or the fronts of the pads.

1.Had to replace both upper control arms cause of the ball jonts
2.Front end Squeeks like an old house
3.Rear driveshaft forward U-joint replaced
4.All kinds of rattles from the rear of the truck when going over bumps.
5.Aligned front end 4 times in a year
I hate procomp suspension and am selling this truck for a new Superduty and having 3rd coast susp. lift it or get a rize kit!! Not going cheap anymore!

You call that a problem. ;-p

Worst problem I've had was last February - drove my 01 Screw to work and made the mistake thinking I needed to come home again. Went to back out of the parking spot and the drive train bound up. Pulled forward and thought it worked out. Backed up again and BOOM. Went to pull forward again and heard a grinding sound.. Called the tower and had it taken in. A week later and my truck needed the rear end rebuilt and, oh wait, the transmission replaced. I still would like to know what caused it. Service people could only tell me "that's very odd." Should add the truck had a bit under 63k on it.

2002 F-150:
Rusting cab corner.
Bottoms of three doors rusting.
Peeling clearcoat (bodyshop said it has been repainted at some point, not really its fault)
I put a set of cheap pads on it and they sqeeked like no other, went to OEM and no problems since, odd because the same pads on my Ranger have worked perfect for 5 years.
Crappy stock General Ameritrac 550 235/70-16 tires, they looked like the front tires on a tractor with grooves cut into the bars.
Otherwise just maintenance stuff (filters, oil...)

1985 Ranger:
Don't get me started, I have been just about everywhere on the out side of the engine, and have put a tranny in it. The thing is like my own tempermental little Millinium Falcon, except it isn't remotely fast. A previous owner swapped in a 2.8 with a computer controlled carburator and pretty much hardwired it to run, years of running pig rich have taken its toll on the little bugger.

Tranny went out at 75,000 miles

My transmission went out at 75,000 miles on my 2001 4x4. Just happened to go out the week before Katrina, the truck spent the next month on the rack and the tranny on the workbench awaiting the tranny guy to return from evacuation......I've had a problem with the overdrive won't work, found some good threads here on the fix, removed the lower steering column cover, pushed the wiring connector back together and no more problems, but I won't be tilting my steering wheel any more( that caused the too short wiring harness to separate from the connector)
But again, thanks to the good folks here, it didn't cost me any mre than a few fuses to fix it, thanks guys!

^ I have the same problem. LOL 05 4.6L on 37's with 3.23's = 9-11MPG.

And for bad news on my truck it has 30K miles and I have had a new trans, rear end rebuild, I think 2 brake jobs and power steering leaks. I think I got a lemon. But thank god for that $2K warrenty. Has def. payed for its self a couple of times.

Hmmmm..lets see...oil changes every 4K, new plugs and wires at 100K, front brakes at 89K, steering arm bushings at 89K, dome light problem (fixed with WD-40) and my analog odometer and trip odometer quit working at 113K (still unfixed).

Truck now has about 135K on it, original clutch. Can't complain at all!

Oh, my A/C quit working but I never use it anyhow the 2/55 A/C works well. And I did crack a front U-joint under a load (was pulling a half buried car out of a hillside) we got the car out though .

Other than that, nothing major. She has been a workhorse and keeps going for me.

1997 - 4.2 V-6, 5-speed, 17mpg.......need'nt say anymore.

FWIW, my last F-150 was a '78, 300 CI with a 4-speed granny low. That one lasted 345K with only a couple of clutch changes and new gaskets all around at about 200K before I sold it in 1991. As far as I know, it is still on the road.
