I had a 98 F-150 as well. I put 85k on it before I sold it. Best truck I ever had. I never replaced anything on that truck besides plugs and fluids. Never even replaced a fuse!! It still had the original front and rear brakes on it as well and I had oversize tires on it. I'm not buying it that your caliper problem is widespread.

As for the rest of them:
87 F-150: Front Ball joints
02 F-150: Wiper / turn signal switch
05 F-150: Stuck open fuel injector
07 F-150: None to date.

Worst Problem?

How about catching fire and being a total write off..does that count? That happened to my '98 XLT...I only found out about the recall a sit was being hosed down...a firefighter said he was gonna take his F-150 in as soon as he got off shift.

Then I had 2 COP's fail (under warranty) on my replacement truck ( a 2000 Lariat 4x4). That December the motor blew a plug out and ate something...so in to the shop for a complete rebuild.

Other than that, no complaints....

Me, mine has not been so lucky.
Both front power windows,2 4-wheel drive valves(the vac vavle that pulls in the front hubs),leaky rear glass, power rear slider motor bad, recall inner fender, and drive shaft out of balance.
Well I guess someone has to get the first few?

I've had my 02 f150 supercrew for about a year and a half. The problem I had was a bad battery and alternator giving out at 60k miles... From what I gathered from the forums is that this does not happen often at only 60k". Aren't I the lucky one" :o

got a 97 f150 4x4 with 156k and it has all kinds of issues

including:

entire front end is loud squeaky and the brand new brakes squeal a little bit going down the road

front end pulls to one side during driving only, not braking

transmission has a couple second delay when taking off from a dead stop

something bad is leaking tranny fluid from under it at the tranny mount and its not the pan we replaced the gasket three times now and no change,

driver side power door glass is screwy

pillar weatherstripping on driver side door is messed up

starter wires rusting off

and some other problems i forget

seems like some of these trucks are fine and others have all kinds of problems

odd..

hit and miss

is it the plant it was built at ?

shift ?

crazy..

Having to keep people from coming up and touching it/drooling on it is probably the biggest problem I've had with mine...man, what a terrible truck it has been

lost first and second planetary gears. Both collapsed under load and blew. 2500 dollars later and a 1250 dollar refund by ford later.....................

If any of you are in the cincinnati ohio area, do not go to John Nolan Ford. They will hose you

you know the rear seal on trans can and will leak? mine leaks into the transfer case, not horribly annoying yet kinda odd. also the pulling issue, check out your drag link, i had a few issues caused by the idler arm working its mounting bolts loose from the frame. other than that, wheelbearings and ball joints gave me a headache at one point.

Lets see......The worst for me was my Master Cylinder on the 83' started going out when I was driving through town. Had 0 brakes by time I got home. Had to use the E-Brake to take it to the garage and it has been good since.

Worst Problem

2000 Harley F150 with 84,000 miles purchased new in Nov 2000. Had a tail light bulb burn out, some chrome flaked off the door handle inside, and now the remote locks are acting up. Oh yeah, I replaced the battery, brake pads, tires and windshield wipers. The problems just never end.

Worst Problem

Intake manifold cracked on my 2000 4.6L, which took out 2 coils from the leaking coolent. The dealer stuck it to me on that one. Several thousand miles later at 133K the alternator went out taking the battery with it. I was found on the road dead. Traded it in on a new 2007 F150, still the best truck out there.

2000 F150 XLT 5.4 - At about 45,000 miles overdrive light started flashing. Took it back to the Ford dealer. Code said range selector bad. They put a new one on. In less than 2 weeks. Same problem, same code. Techs at the dealership finally called Detroit. Had to replace PCM (the only extend warranty I every bought that paid for itself.) I've also had to replace both power door locks, front oil seal, rear pinion seal.

I have around 101,000 on it now. Still love my truck.
