Post Removing Dealer Emblem

Never worried about this before.....but would like to know the best way to remove (if it's possible) the dealer emblem from the back of my new F 150.

Thanks!

If you're talking about a plastic decal sticker then...The sooner you get it off the easier it will be to remove. I used a hairdryer and just kept picking at it until it came off. Then I used a little rubbing alcohol to get the rest of the sticky stuff off. Then waxed the area.

My emblem consisted of a plastic badge stuck on with the foam-type double-sided tape. It was pretty easy to just pull off.

My wife's Honda had stick-on letters. I used a brand-new razor blade almost parallel to the sheetmetal and it removed it like butter. If you use a new blade, it shouldn't scratch the paint if you're careful.

Some dealers will remove the badge if you request it.

"Cutting" it off with a loop of fish-line is less risky to the paint than a razor blade. Alcohol will remove the glue. Be sure to wax afterwards.
Good Luck.

My Dealer emblem is still there. It has a little tag hanging from it just like the one on my mattress. It says,
'Do Not Remove Under Penalty Of Law'

I know what you're thinking and no one has ever checked my matttess either but, as soon as I pull it off...

Unwaxed dental floss works really well. Just use a sawing motion thru the double stick foam tape. The tape residue can be rubbed off. Not sure solvents are wise... Test the solvent in a hidden area first.

On the purchase order I added "anything with the dealers name appearing on the vehicle will void this purchase contract". You would have laughed at the salesman trying to get the dealer logo off when I refused delivery and asked for my deposit back. They got it off, cleaned and waxed in less than 5 minutes.

To CPhilip

If you order a vehicle, you can conditionalize the purchase such that if a dealership emblem is placed on the vehicle the dealership will have to pay you or you reserve the right to refuse the vehicle with a full refund. Every time I have ordered a vehicle it has a statement on the contract to the effect "if a dealership emblem is attached to the body of the vehicle, dealer will pay purchaser $XXX (I usually start at $1000 just to get their attention). It is legal also.

Another option would be to have a statement on the purchase contract that if a dealership emblem is affixed to the vehicle, purchaser has the right to refuse acceptance with a full return of any earnest money presented. They want the sale, they will remove the emblem, and this is good for new or used vehicles.

I've done it, it does work. I also hate dealership emblems with a passion.
