motorcraft paint

My Motorcraft touch up paint does not match. My label on the door jam has code YN and CX. Im touching up the trim- CX, but it is much lighter in color. ARe there any variations in this color code CX? I found a special paints list online that list Med. Pk. Platinum PMP-19500-7060G.
The CX is PMP-19500-7039A.

It looked close when applying, but after drying its much lighter... now I have a poka dot bumper.

Kinda just means the paint wasn't mixed properly, in my opinion. I've used "touch up" spray cans from automotivetouchup.com to paint a few small plastic things and it's a pretty good match.

I think touch-up pens might not look right without clear on top of it? This is touch up from Motorcraft?

Thanks for the reply.... it is the touch up from Motorcraft... I shook the hell out of it... but will try again....I have not yet put on the clearcoat, but don't think that would help matching... thanks again.

I don't think it should need clear coat, just throwing a possibility out there because I don't know how off the colors actually are. But I'd still say it isn't mixed properly if it's off by that much.

Here's a pic. This is second attempt and same results. shook tube for several minutes. Paint code is CX- dark shadow gray..but looks like sliver. Could it be a bad tube of paint?

Hmm . . . that definitely doesn't look like the right color. I've seen worse touchup, but that's definitely bad. I'd say it's a bad tube, but I'm not a touch-up pro.

I'd like someone else to chime in if they have different ideas. But I work at a dealership, and even though I'm pretty sure we make our own touch-up (not positive), it looks better than that almost every time.

Yea, that's bad paint. Take it back to the dealer where you bought it and show them. They should give you a new one for free.

The Dupli-color stuff from the parts store is way closer than what you have.

I would also take some lacquer thinner and get rid of those blobs before they cure any more.
