Window tinting confusion

I've got a auto shop next to where I work and have been toying with the idea of tinting my windows just to give it a nice fresh black look. The man told me that my front two were 25% and the back two 10% the back two looks like 25% and the front looks barely tinted at all!!! Needless to say me and dad are going to talk to his tinting buddy's when I get around to it.

Normally, I just ask the shop to match the darker factory rears, or throw 5% all 'round... but that's illegal almost everywhere.

Here's a generic chart for ya...

They are metering the glass for the tint measurement after application. Tell them just throw 15% on if you want to be able to see out the fronts in night, 5% if you want it completely stealthed out and can afford a tint ticket depending on your area.

I applied 3M Color Stable series 5% tint on my fronts. Love it. Rear glass is all 20% over factory.

I put 35% on my fronts, and yet it can still be a little hairy backing up at night with the windows up.

Yeah pretty much anything over factory privacy will be a bit sketchy. I had 35% all around on my Neon and found it very user friendly at night time for tint. But it certainly was not dark enough in the day light.

In Texas the tint must allow 25% light through to be legal. Since all factory glass has tint to it, though small, applying 25% tint, the result will be darker than the legal limit. Your results will vary here with law enforcement and state inspection.

Legally 35% tint can be applied, along with the factory tint is a vast majority of the time perfectly legal in the state of Texas.

I usually just get 15 on the front to match. I would never go darker though as I do drive in the sticks sometimes and it can be downright dangerous at night. I've never gotten a ticket but I'm a really safe driver and rarely draw any attention to myself. Grey pickups just kind of fade into the background for cops.

I went with 5 % on the sides and double layered 5% on the back and oversized blacked out eyebrow. I love my tint on a nice sunny day but at night it's a whole nother story... Backing up at night sometimes requires a spotter. You could always take it off though if u go to dark. And Darren said it right bout the law. I rock a firedepartment sticker in my rear so they never mess with me but if its a problem I would stay legal. Those tickets just go up every time. In Louisiana you can have ur back window completely blacked out, not sure if that applies in all states.
