ive got a 3" bl on my truck right now. i would say if your looking to take the truck offroad do it right and get a nice suspension kit. i have no body roll on my truck and i have a 99 scab but i am looking to take the bl off because of it putting too much stress on some stuff. my body mount on my passenger side right at the floor board has shifted and that has caused my floor board to crack badly.
i bought the truck with the bl lift on but if i were to lift a truck i would do suspension, the bl scares the hell out of me sometimes, and i personally dont like bl's.
thats just my opinion, you can do as you please though

Every body lift issue that i've seen can be attributed to either home made parts or improper installation of an actual kit. I'm curious about the cracked floor. Was the factory bushing reinstalled?

The "entry level" suspension kits ($1,500 range) give you no advantage on or off road that you can't get from a body lift. With both, you clear bigger tires and that's it. If you want real performance gains, you are looking at the high-end kits which are much more expensive.

Ibrocun: im not sure but it looks like the owner before me put the stock bushings back on? im not sure he never told me to be honest but they look old and dry rotted.
other that the cracked floor i have no problems with it as in body roll or anything else, but in regards to suspension kits, it mainly depends on how much he is will to spend.
its a cheap way to stuff bigger tires under the truck and lift it a couple inches.

i'm on a tight budget. 200.00 for 3" of lift is very appealing. our 4x4's come stock with 2" of lift plus a body lift for 200.00 (self install) thats 5" of lift. buying a 5" suspention lift for 1000.00 or more seems like a bad idea budget wise. (i am not rock crawling or ragging on the truck, just a little mudding and moderate sugar sand trail rides. i will be running 35X12.5 tire) but if it is dangerous or damage causing would the 2" lift be more stable?

A body lift is more "stable" than a suspension lift of the same height. You are lifting about 20% of the vehicle's sprung weight, and leaving 80% in it's stock location, except for the lift created by the larger tires, which is only about an inch.

that makes sense but what i ment when i said stable, is it less likely that the body would shift on the frame with the shorter 2" lift. for the most part i drive conservitively offroad. eventually i'm gonna get stuck and might have to be yanked out. or might hit a stump i didn't see. thats when i'm worried about the body shift or rolling side to side. am i just being paranoid? or is this a real concearn?

You've heard stories of body lift failures. These come from guys making their own parts, or not properly installing them. As with anything mechanical, substandard parts or crappy workmanship will fail.

You won't have any problems with a body lift if you use a proper kit and it's installed properly. If you do it yourself, follow the instructions to the letter. If you have it installed, use someone who has done them before and is proud of their work.

I'd be willing to bet the proper washers were not used. How tight is that body bolt?

OP: I see you said something about just going with the smaller 2" body lift. If it were me, for like an extra $15 bucks you get another full inch of lift plus the 2" doesn't come with the relocation brackets for the rear bumper. The 3" is a much better deal and a more complete kit.
