UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE + PICS



I decided enough was enough and decided to try and fix this common problem... here are the pics of what i have done so far. I still have the drivers door to fix and i apologize for not taking before pics of the pass and
3rd door which was the worst by far

Oh, almost forgot.... I used a Dremel with the flex extension and a cut off wheel to remove just the first layer , then ground off all rust as well as the drain hole lip , bondo, sand ( which could have been a little better) then sprayed with rustoleum bed liner. W-D 40 sprayed inside or PB Blaster. Has worked well so far...

Also I am doing my door kick plates when i do the driver door

Looks good... the lips get full of crap on my 04... have to keep cleaning them.

 

I'm a little unclear, did you remove all rust, sand, and bondo shut that crease? Did you leave an area open for water to weep out?

I actually cut just the bottom seam just above the bottom edge of the door, within 1/8 th inch or so and then ground out all the rust i could see.


I used bondo , and blended it up to the weep holes that were in the doors , I ground them a little so there wasnt any lip at the bottom of the factory holes. it has rained like hell here for three days since i did this and water is pouring out of the weep holes like never before. Feel free to ask as many questions as needed

 

How has it held up now it's went through winter?

My drivers door ...you can put your hand up inside..
Going to be looking into that when the weather gets nice, thinking of making a alum panel for it.

I actually have just donw this recently , within the last couple weeks or so. I just finished my drivers door yesterday and will post pics of it as soon as i have more time, it was the worst of all the others. had to tack weld three spots just to ensure it stays together!

I've been chasing mine for a few yrs now, mine is up to the bend on the inside panel.
I've tryed to clean it up and re paint it ...but it's time for a panel of some sort.

Thinking of some alum and duraglass....they still make that stuff?
I just need to do the driverside doors , other side was fix when I had a new wing door put on ....d^% parking lots

Tailgate is doing the same at the under inside seam too. Hopefully I can catch them both before the blistering does'nt get to the outside of the panel.

I tell ya man, i would do whatever you have to to get it taken care of..... i cant imagine another winter here in ohio without fixin it. I found a spot about 8 " long on the tailgate yesterday too , so that is on the to do list as well. i took out so much of the drivers door ithought a panel would need to be welded in but decided tack welding a few spots would work fine. it made the paint/ rippled stuff want to buble just slightly so i pressed on the outside with a rag and ice to prevent damage.

 

Outstanding job... It looks very professional... Well done...
