Well This Sucks (Paint/Bodywork Advice Needed)
alright, so as some of you may know, i ****ed up my passenger door last week.
story goes like this> me and the step bro go make a cigarette run> come back> i pull up to the curb and then start backing up so theres not as much space between me and the car behind me> noob step bro isnt paying attention and opens the door while im still backing up> door catches on the grass and opens about 160 degrees
aftermath
chunk of grass missing
^door opened as far as it will go, overlaps the fender almost a half inch
^door only opens about a foot = no good for picking up chicks
Soooo the fender and door are gonna need a repaint and some body work. Gonna go by the body shop tomorrow and see what they say.
now what i need to figure out is, im pretty sure i wanna report this to my insurance since i still have full coverage (was literally gonna switch to liability the next day until this happened). But I have no idea what I should tell them cus I really dont wanna get screwed over on this. And IDEALLY im going to try to get a full repaint out of this cus my paint is terrible. Idk if I can file multiple claims or what, Ive never had to claim anything through insurance. My drivers fender and door have chips all over from getting sprayed by rocks one day while at school, theres a deeeeep scratch on the bedside from the P.O., the paint is cracking under the clear on the hood etc etc.
so do any of yall have any advice on how i should play this out?

Ive had a few dealing with insurance and this is what i would suggest. First off there is no way they will repaint the whole truck. Go by a good body shop and get a estimate and have it in front of you when you call to make the claim. Just tell them the truth on how it happened and they will send out a appraiser and go from there. Now if you have any deep scratches you can possibly file that just say your truck got keyed and that will get a repaint on the side with the bad scratches..Good luck
Another thing just key your whole truck all the way around and that will get ya a whole paint job

^ He said he'd never filed a claim on insurance, so I wasn't sure if he knew his rates would go up. The amount varies by company and even if you call them and ask (with a repair estimate in your hand) they usually won't tell you. You'll find out how much when the bill comes.

basically asking what i should tell the ins. company.
my truck has all kinds of dings, deep scratches and chips from other ignorant drivers so maybe i can convince the appraiser that it should be repainted :o

maybe they'll give you a check for the damage and let you take it to get it fixed, that's what happened when i damaged my tailgate a while back when i had my broken arm and couldn't see, the insurance just wrote me a check and let me decide where to get it repaired i paid a little extra at the shop where i took it and had the whole bed repaint along with the repair of the tailgate

your insureance shouldn't go up.. i went thru insureance for my cracked windsheild, and branches falling on my truck doing $2000 grand in damage and thank god it hasnt gone up(yet). but let me tell you, once you get your truck repainted, if you havent already, the paint will never be like a factory paint job. im pretty sure everybody knows that. more then half of my truck has been repainted and i have no luck when it comes to f**k*** chips.
