Front Windshield Replacement

When washing the truck this past weekend I discovered a crack from top to bottom in the middle of the windshield. Needless to say I am looking to replace it. My first question is in regard to the "F150" graphic that is in the top middle of the windshield - should I be able to get this in the new windshield if I do not go to the dealer?
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.
I am going to start calling around for prices.
Thanks!

I had my windshield replaced a few years ago and the glass installer installed the exact same windshield with the F-150 graphic and all without having to specifically ask for it.

Also you do not have to go to a dealership to have it done if you do not want to. Most glass companies will come to your house or place of work and replace the windshield for you right there. In fact most dealerships will contract windshield replacement out to an outside glass installer anyway. The dealer will call them up and they will come down to the dealership and replace the windshield.

I did some calling around to three different places (I have not called the dealer) and I was quoted pretty much the same price (within $5 of each other's quote) and I did find out they will come to you if needed.
It looks like the windshield with the F150 graphic will cost about $100 extra.
For a replacement windshield without the F150 graphic the all in cost is approx $175.
For a replacement windshield with the F150 graphic the all in cost is approx $285.

I like the look of the F150 graphic in the windshield but do not think that it is worth an extra $100.

FWIW - this work was quoted in the Memphis area.

Also check with your insurance company. Depending on the insurance you have it may be covered. I paid a $100 deductible to get my windshield replaced.

I had the same issue when getting my windshield replaced. They wanted an extra $100 or so for the F150 logo. I did without it...

I checked with insurance first and the windshield replacement would fall under the comp & collision deductible, which is $500 on my policy.
I believe I will be going with the $200 cost without the F150 graphic.

Actually I did spray some water on it while washing the other cars/trucks!
Truth be told that nasty Bronco needs a paint job as I can peel off paint as I spray water on it....I also need to figure out why it keeps on draining the battery while it is sitting in the driveway...

Got a serious crack on the interstate yesterday. Called Safelite and they asked if I had a Harley edition. They told me that the windshield will have the Harley/Ford alliance graphic just as the original. I believe Carlite manufacturers the windshields for Ford. New windshield to be installed this Wednesday. I was hoping that I could find the Dearborn "Built" sticker somewhere. Any ideas? - Og

I had mine replaced a few weeks ago. The new windshield is tinted the same, its just missing the logo. I too liked the logo, but for 100 bucks more, forget it!

i cracked mine, somehow, last week while removing the cowl to paint it. Massachusetts or my policy has a free glass option. I got the F150 with the top part of the windshield tinted for free. The safelite guy said it was an upgrade, and its a Carlite windshield. I didn't even know the tint was an option. And he put the VA built sticker back on.

Do you know how he did it? I was thinking about heating it up with the heat gun and removing it, but probably wouldn't be much good waiting to reinstall it after the windshield install wait time. Thought about going directly to my dealer to see if they could get one for me. I guess I'll figure it out tomorrow... - Og
