Hood underliner?

Theres nothing wrong with my underliner, but I would like to pull it out just for better looks. Would this be alright? and possibly keep the engine cooler in summer? I would imagine it only holds heat from making the hood hot which wont be a big deal for me. Thanks.

Just keep a fresh coat of wax on the hood and your good to go but put it back on for the PA winters

I always believed it was to keep in heat for the cold, and to hide the brace bars.

i also thoght since the engine compartment has so much heat it was put there to protect the paint on the hood.
