Installing Tailgate F-150 Emblem ('05)

Here's what I want to do: Remove the standard F-150 emblem on my tailgate, and install the emblem that's on the side of our trucks (Mine says 5.4 Triton underneath F150)

My question is, if I remove the factory emblem from my tailgate, will the side emblem fit at that same spot? I hope drilling is not involved, heh. Let me know guys, thanks.

I was wondering how to do the same thing with my 01's tailgate. I can get a really good deal on a Ford Racing oval for the tailgate and I want to know how to get off the old one.

A pressure washer aimed between the paint and the badge is the slickest way to remove badges.

That's not something I'd try, but if yer that ballsy then go for it. Did ya search for it? I'm pretty sure it's been talked about before.

yes it will fit, but you will have to shave off one of the alignment pins on the back of the emblem. a dremel tool or a small saw can do it easily.

No drilling or anything is required. Just use alcohol and fishing string to "saw" off the sticky mess behind the badge. I have a complete write-up on this. Just search for it.

I finally got around to it today, and finished it. I ended up drilling a hole for that alignment pin, just to utilize the support of the pin. I also got around to installing my 2003 OEM FX4 badge. And they both look great! I'm buying my tires next week, and that should complete my truck project for now. I'll post some pics when I get the tires.

But thanks for the advice guys.

thats what i did on my 07'. what you can do is take thin fishing line and pull it in between the tailgate and emblem to remove the tape. the holes on the tailgate and side were exactly the same for me, no cutting at all. hope that helps
