how big is gas tank??

i am trying to program my scan guage II to be accurate with fuel amnt, looked in my owners book and it says 25 gal tank. however i think it is a little bigger than that, because i filled it when it still had a little in it (no low fuel light yet but damn close) and it took about 24.5. anyone know exactly how big it is including filler neck, and tank (total size).
truck is 2000 f150 scab 6.5 ft bed 5.4L

Last I ran mine that low and filled it...
I want to say she took like 26 gallons to fill her to the brim.

The old model 6.5 bed tank is 25 gallons.
Some responses above are from the new model.

I have put 24.5 in mine once but, the light had been on for a long, long time.

If fueled that much with no light, then either your light malfunctioned or I'd avoid using that gas station.

Actually, the thought of it would **** me off so bad I'd go back with a five gallon gas can and buy 5 gallons.

Did you happen to track your mileage on the previous tank?

If you read the instruction book to the SG2, it would tell you that if your tank size is in a decimal (such as our 24.5) to round down. So enter 24 gallons into your SG2. Although I've been able to squeeze 25 into it. Like all the way to the iddy-bitty top. But that requires jumping on the bed and rocking the truck, etc.

For the 2000 model year, the regular cab short bed trucks were listed at 24.5 gallons, the extended cab short bed trucks were listed at 15 gallons, and the long wheelbase vehicles were all 30 gallon tanks.

Yes, I know the short beds were all the same tanks, but they must have been listed differently for a reason... My guess is that the added rake of the truck traps an extra 2 quarts of air in the tank, but that's just a guess...

LOL! Yeah, but I meant somewhere in addition to that! Also, yes it was for the new model and the OP had a 2000, so my post was basically for nothing! Oh well, I'm still a newbie!

My 97 single cab short bed is 24.5 gal i dunno if ford changed in your year though...it's always seems my low fuel light comes on when i have about 4 gallons left cuz every time fuel light is on and i feel it up i can only squeeze around 20 21 gallons in it.

Just out of curiosity why are you "feeling" your truck up?
