Automatic Lights/fog Lights

I know there was a thread quite some time ago about how to make your fog lights go on with the automatic headlights. It had something to do with doing something in the switch. Does anyone remember this thread or how this can be done?

yes, go here... http://www.geocities.com/tedoca/headlight.html. Do keep in mind however, that in later year models, the three harnesses located in the headlamp switch were condensed into two, and if that is the case in your truck, you splice the #2 and the #12 wire in the harness on the left. (they are still the brown and the black/white wires, but they are in the same harness as opposed to the earlier 97-03 models... if you still have the three harnesses in your switch, follow the instructions there to the letter. Do keep in mind that the mechanical mod remains the same, it is the electrical mod that may differ, as notated here. if you are just looking to turn the foglamps on w/ the autolamps, and not independently of the headlights, you do not need to splice any wires. Just do the dremeling. However, by splicing the wires, you can turn the foglamps on at any position, and they will stay on with the high beams. hope this helps, let us know how it turns out.

If I am reading this correctly you want the fogs to come on when the headlights come on in the automatic setting? My '05 you turn the **** to auto and then pull out, just like if you manually turned on the head lights and then the fogs.

The ***** on the 97-03 do not have the ability to be pulled out for the fogs in the autolamp position. Modifying the ramp in the switch is all that's necessary to enable it.

Joe,

When you say modifying the ramp, what does that mean?

You got it Jon. I didn't realize the beginning of that information (mechanical change) would be the same as what I was looking for. Thanks
