F-150 Door Crack Survey ('97-2000)
I had not heard of this issue until I read about it here yesterday. I went home last night, and sure enough, cracks on both the driver and passenger side.
It looks like this issue has been discussed for many years. What is the status of what Ford is doing to fix the problem? Are they replacing the doors at no cost?

cracked
99' drivers door crack 3/8 " silver paint if i got it fixed would it match i think not ford said that replacment doors will be painted at factory and not slow dealerships or get screwed by the dealer on time and supplies. sooooo yes dd cracked . i have a letter sent out that crack was from window up/dn weak spot M.W.
Are any dealerships paying for the repair of the door cracks? I have a 2000 with 92000 miles on it. I just got the truck a month ago and didn't notice the crack when I got it. Anyway, I ask the dealership about the repair. They told me that there wasn't a recall or a TSB on the truck. They said the only way Ford would pay for the repair is if it was still under warranty. I called the customer service line, and they said the same thing. Who should I bug about this?
I posted before that I only had rust on driver door and tailgate. I now have a crack on driver side door about 3/4" down from the top of the corner window molding (bottom right corner). The crack is a V shape and a small piece of paint has chipped off. I have a 2000 Lariat 4X4 with 140,000 kms. When I power the window down sometimes the window will only come half way and stop. It will usually go all the way down on the second try. Even when the window goes down all the way it slows down half way and then opens all the way. I don't know if this is related to the paint crack. I didn't have the crack last week but have been using the window alot because it is finally warming up. Sorry about going on so long.

I did not notice them until today.
