I stopped at a local dealership to ask again what ford is doing for this and after 5 minutes of him making a couple calls he asked if I bought the truck there. I said no. He says, sorry ford doesn't do anything for it but he could take a look and give me an estimate. Heck with that. I'll let it rust. Actually, I'll call another dealer and see what they say.

I went to Power ford in Valencia CA yesterday looking at a 2000 F150 and I pointed out the cracks in the doors to the sales man, he never heard of that prob,, um yea right. So what is the deal? i see that some dealers are fixing this prob, some are not. Is it safe to assume that we are on our own about this with NO FACTORY SUPPORT???

updat..., i went and bought a 99 F150 lariat 4x4 scab, it has small cracks on both doors. Took it to Vista Ford in Woodland Hills CA, service advisor says "Gee thats the first one I ever saw with that prob", I walked him around the service lot and pointed out 6 more on HIS lot with the cracks. He says" well unless you are still in factory 3 year warantee, there is nothing we can do, Ford has not taken responsibility for this ".
I am gonna take it to Galpin ford in Van nuys (HUGE ford dealer) and see what they say.
Craig
More to come...

I thought of printing out this thread and bringing it with me to show the service advisor

Angry

97 standard cab, long bed, 135,000 miles, damn!!, just looked, both doors cracked!!. Mine is a canada built truck so where it is built makes no difference.
I just bought the truck 6 weeks ago so there is no doubt I,m screwed, how long do the cracks get? I've got no rust just cracks.

Door Cracks

'99 SCab. Had 1 inch cracks on both sides hiding under the weatherstrips. After screaming at the used car manager [ in front of other customers, of course ] it cost me $250 and the dealer picked up the rest.

A piece of advice for those of you that are being told by the dealer that they never heard of this problem before. Go talk to one of the grunts in the dealers BODY SHOP and ask him if he's ever heard of door cracks! After he stops laughing , ask him if he can tell you approx. how many doors he fixed in the last 2 or 3 months. Take that information and go back to the used car MANAGER and tell him [ in front of other customers of course ] that one of his salesmen just told you a bald faced lie and you are on your way over to the local consumer affairs office. That may help them get over their case of amnesia!

had door cracks on both. got one replaced suposedly with a door that will not crack.

From what I have read it looks like trucks without power windows don’t have the problem as much. Being in Louisiana my windows go up and down as much as the tide, therefore, door cracks

when i roll my windows up you can see the door flex

1997 F150 XLT 122k miles
