F-150 Door Crack Survey ('97-2000)
my 97 F-150 had booth the drivers and passinger doors crack, the 2002 f-150 I reacently gave up on did not.
I did notice that when driving with the 2002 f-150 a lot of flexing in the drivers door was going on. This was noticed when I drove with the window down and my hand resting on the side mirrior.
Door hinges and alignment were ok....
try it on your f-150

Dont personally have any cracks, but a coworker of mine noticed one on his 01 or 02 f150. Took it to the dealer and they said it must have been something he did. He went around and inspected every f150 and told the owner to contact the dealer about it. Within two days the dealer called the guy to let him know that they would do whatever it took so long as he stopped telling people about it. Apperently they had received 150 to 200 calls all because they wouldnt own up to the inferior product they were selling. BTW I live in a town of about 20.000 word travels fast.
door cracks
My 1997 F150 got the cracks after only 20000 miles on it on both doors just above the door handles along the window line. Springfield Ford here in PA told me they would only pay 50% of the cost to fix the doors since I didn't take out their extended warranty!
99 Lariat, no cracks, but when I have the window down over 1/2 way, then roll it all the way up it sounds like someone is punching my door hard. It slams up there and makes a creaking sound, which Im sure will result in a door crack sooner or later.
My grandpa has a 97 with cracks on both doors.
Also, one of my dads friends who works at a dealership has a 97 with a crack on the drivers side.
Sometimes I just look on F150 I see in the parking lot and the majority of them also have it.

DOOR CRACKS
hey had a 2000 f-150 with door cracked. also just about every vehicle in company fllet had a crack in it. 15 or so trucks. was reading and comment was made that electricwindows were the root cause of this. dont think so.... all of our trucks have crank um up windows. hate cheap bosses!!!!!!!!!!
here's 1 for ya. just got a new 2003 few months back, boss is so cheap that he ordered the work package. so no chrome bumper, rims or chrome grill surrond. vinly floor and bench seat. only problem is that he could have bought a standard truck, which is a xl model, and he would have spent only 300 bucks more. you see he had to add the cost of an automatic trans and a/c. so all in all the shiney aluminum tool box in the bed was free!!! give me a break.

I just bought my 99 Scab a week and a half ago and I didnt know about this until today...just looked and sure enough the drivers door has a nice 1/4 inch crack right above the door handle.
After seeing that I went and checked the other Ford truck here at our office and all 5 of them are cracked on drivers door and 2 on passengers door. Collectively between my father and myself and our business we have 6 Fords in that year range and all of them are cracked on at least the drivers side.
Mine only has 34k on it, hopefully the amount of business we do with the local dealer will get us some satisfaction even though they are out of warranty and mine was purchased at a Chevy dealer.

I've got a '97, one on each door just above the corner trim, My wife saw me looking at the door and asked what I was picking at, I told her I had a small crack and did she have one over there?, she gave me "the Look" and got in the truck...
1998 F150 4X2 XLT SB 47,000 miles
bought used three months ago.
On the drivers door next to window molding on the right
a small crack has started.
Did not see it when I was test driving.
Started looking at other 150s and most of all the ones I see have the crack. Is there any help from Ford to fix this?
I bought mine from a used truck dealer.

2000 F150 Extended cab, my door just cracked about a week ago and Ford will not fix it. Called the customer service number and they say my truck is out of warranty. Well it's not my fault THEY had a manufacturing problem. If it was only my vehicle I would buy that but not when 78% of the people surveyed had the same problem. Went to a car dealer down the road here and found 5 F-150 ranging in year from 98 to 00 and all had the crack. Anyone know of another number to someone that might be able to actually help?
