98. Cracks on both doors.

 

1999 F-150 w/27,600 miles. I just noticed a crack on the driver's side door. I have power windows and I noticed some referred to that as the problem. Passenger door is o.k. however that door is seldom used.

 

Well let's see, this thread is four years old now, I've been aware of the crack issue since I bought my 1999 and have checked for it regularly. I washed my truck last Sunday, no crack.
This morning the drivers window was frozen shut and the motor wouldn't bring it down until things warmed up.

I thought about the stress of that and checked again today.
I have a new unrusted crack about a 16th of an inch.

It took 59 months and 77,000 miles but it finally got me.

I took due care and my opinion is this.
Every 1997 thru 2000 F150 will crack eventually if it is in service.

I had both problems fixed (?) in March 02 the crack in the drivers door came back in less than 4 months dealer said they would refix now its 04 and I still havent had time to do without my truck the door crack has bee growing and the rust spreading I am making plans to get a loaner I need to get the truck in the shop

I have rusty cracks in both doors 1/4 inch long. 97 150 96k. My dealer said they'd spot weld them. Thats crap.

 

00' XLT Screw - 94k miles - Small crack on drivers side door. Unknown when it started, I just bought the truck a month ago. Going to a dealer to see about a fix.

 

i have a 1999 ext cab f150 and have cracks on both of my doors near the windows. they say its from the power windows and they see it all the time. I bought this used and now have to see what the dealership will do. But the other guy said I would have to replace both doors.

 

hey bro the guy told me if they spot weld it then it will just happen again over time. I would bring it to a different place and ask them what they thing you should do. Then go back to the ford dealer and tell them whats up

 

Door crack on the drivers door only, about 1/4" long. Not too bad for a truck with 138,800 miles on it!!!

99 F150 Sport....door crack on driver's side. I had Ford fix booth doors while under warranty. They did a great job. Door cracks due to what I believe is stress from power window when closing.

 

Have 99 F150 XLT 4X4 with large crack in drivers door. Paint is still covering it, but lifting. Bought the truck used, Nov. 02. Took it back around Nov. 03 after reading about problem on this web site. Body shop manager said crack is pretty severe and I'd have to probably pay something to repair it. Anybody hear anything on FORD replacing the door skins N/C?
