F-150 Door Crack Survey ('97-2000)
I can't remember if I posted on this thread or not, but I've got a '99 Supercab with cracks on both sides. Sometimes when the window is rolled up it will pop, kinda sounding like it pops of the tracks but its not. Sometimes it waits a little while after rolling the window up to do it to. Is this what causes the cracks or is my window F'ed up?
Another thing, for you guys who are trying to get your dealer to do something about this. If they say they have no idea what your talking about, take a walk on the used lot and see if there are any sitting out there. Bet there is. Point it out.

97 supercab made in kansas city. measured from the outside edge of the window seal, cracks on both sides but small--about 1/8th of an inch. no rust (yet). Truck has over 160,000 miles and i bought it new, never wrecked. Its been one year since i checked for door cracks so both cracks developed within the last year. To reduce the time required to type details about all these cracked doors, i wonder if we should instead solicit the minority vote by starting a new survey thread and ask all 1997/98 supercab owners without a door crack to post.

I bought my 1999 F150 about a year ago at a local car dealership. I've not had any problems at all. However today I notice a crack in the driver's side door at the lower corner of the window. I took it to my local ford dealer they gave me a 9 page printout that states "Some vechicles may exhibit a cosmetic crack in the door panel at the lower rear corner of the window opening. This may be caused by excessive stress on the outer door panel.1997-98F-250 LD and 1997-200F-150". The rest of the printout goes on telling how to fix the problem. That however is just part of the problem. While I was there I was told "because you didn't buy the truck here you are not a loyal Ford customer so we can't help you." I have two Ford at the present and I have owed several in the past. I called the Ford home office they told me that there was no such problem and nothing they could do about it. It is going to cost me $950.00 to fix a crack in a door on a truck that has less than 50 thousand miles on it. No more Fords for this family ever.
door cracks
I had a 97 reg. cab 4x4 the drivers door cracked about 29,000 miles. I now have a 99 reg. cab 4x4 the drivers door cracked at about 40,000 miles. The door was fixed at a dealership and cracked back out again. The way the doors flex when the windows go up and down , I was wondering if this is just a problem with electric windows doors or does it happen to manual windows doors to ? or it might not be caused by the windows at all. I bought both my trucks new and I'am the only driver so i know it is not from slamming the doors.
i have a crack in my door i had a deer to hit it and my bodyshop replaced the door and the crack has showed up. do they have a fix for it yet? i took it back to the bodyshop and he said they had a recall on it and when i went to ford they said they didn't know what i was talking about. but guess what I'm going back thanks to all your help and will get something done and will report back with what they tell me . futher progress will be made on this matter one way or the other we will go as high as we need to.
remember ford needs to take care of there customers in order to gain respect this matter has went to far if its ford that made the mmistake they need to fix it no matter how you or anyone bought there truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks
