$2k to spend. what should i get?

I just got an unexpected $2k bonus at work (don't ya just love those) and am wondering what to spend it on. My 2006 5.4 SCREW 2WD is completely stock. I really want to go Fabtech 6", Level, and Wheels/tires but before I significantly screw up my MPG I was hoping to do a few mods that might give me a 2-3MPG gain (so when I do lift it will go back to what I have now). I was thinking about $500 for true duals, GOTTS intake mod, $500 for Gryphon with custom tune for exhaust and intake, and then $500-$700 on my stereo system

IF you had a stock truck with $2k how would you spend it. Fire away and thanks in advance.

I'd get new wheels and tires first, then upgrade the stereo.

Headers, custom true dual exhaust, gryphon and electric fans.

2k well spent, excellent sounding truck, and mileage increase, IF you keep your foot of the skinny pedal!

If your truck isn't payed off yet, I'd do that first.

Gears and a tune are really what will gain back some mpg after lifting/meats. The rest are bolt ons. I agree with the above though, pay off the truck if it hasn't been already, and start off with a lift + tires.

Fully inspect the brake system and replace ANY components that are marginal. Same thing with shocks, steering components, and driveline components.

Complete tune up including new spark plugs and ALL filters, if not done recently.

Inspect all other necessary components (serpentine belt, hoses, etc.) and replace those that look marginal.

Save the rest in a fund to repair that failure prone Variable Cam Timing system WHEN (not if) it fails.

Put it towards paying it off. Best option hands down. Once you pay it off then you have your car payment every month that you can use for gas/spend on mods.

If that's not your style, tunes, efans, and a well designed exhaust will net you a bit of MPGs. Gears will help as well, as long as you have the lift kit installed. Don't throw gears on it unlifted, or you'll be wondering where all your gas went.

You all are sounding like my parents. I put $10k down on this thing my payments are next to nothing and its a only a 36month term plus im single with no kids. I'm spending this money to make my truck look and sound good.

I dont want gears until I get a lift/wheels

I want a few bolt on's plus a nice DVD/NAV (Thinking Kenwood 6160) and/or programmer before I lift. Or exhaust, I cant decide

That being said any other suggestions that will make my new toy the king of the streets?

You could upgrade brake rotors and pads. Make it stop on a dime. Just a thought
