Efan Setup

I have two setups in mind:

Mark VIII 19" Electric Fan/Shroud
DC Controller FK-50P

OR

Two 16" Electric Fans
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...94417368487708
DC Controller FK-50P
Custom Mounting Bracket Kit

If the ebay fans are no good I will go with two SPAL 16" fans and a Spal Controller with custom bracket mount or the mark viii setup

Please give your input

Alright guys,

Ive decided to purchase the Mark VIII Fan and the DCC FK-50P, all in all should cost me around $200 to install an efan kit that has more than enough cooling power. Everything should be here within the week and installed soon!

That was probably a wise choice. Take lots of pictures and make sure to post up when you have everything together.

Yeah, I'm not sure how good those fans will really be (worries me when people talk big about relatively cheap fans, and he never quoted the actual amperage)... But if they don't last long, at least you're not out much money. And the quality controller can be reused with more expensive fans if they do turn out to be a problem.

Keep us informed!

There have been several users who went this route, problem free for several years. If the fan ever goes out I can simply replace it or go the dual 16'' fan route, however I believe the single Mark VIII fan delivers more cfm than most dual setups, and many 16" fans are overrated in their cfm and amperage ratings, i feel this is the safest and most efficient route.

Going to have the fan looked at, inspected and cleaned for install!

Hows the setup working for you?
Did you fabricate anything yourself or just bolt it all together?
Hows the truck "feel" after the install and any noticeable gains?

Sorry, I somehow missed the post where you decided on the Mark VIII fan. :o I was referring to the eBay fans when I was talking about cheap and possibly problematic.

On another note, did you talk with the DC people about which controller to order? I thought most people with Mark VIII fans were using the FK85 controller because the fan sometimes draws over 50A.

Good luck!

I had to fabricate some mounting brackets to the rad support then i also went down to Lowes and picked up all weather electrical box so i can mount the controller inside the box onto the bumber support bar underneath the truck..wiring was a snap...the truck does feel lighter when you drive...i would compare it to like pulling a trailer and unhitching it.

If you got a Mark VIII fan it should be a two speed fan. I'm pretty sure there should be three wires / plug tabs: one for low speed power, one for high speed power, and one for ground.

^^^^ Ok maybe it's not. The fan has two wires a solid black & solid blue! The fan is 19" with "S" blades, it came out of a old cop car!

Question about DC controllers. I pulled a Mark 8 two speed and Im on the DC website
http://www.dccontrol.com/fancontrol.htm#chc
I am looking and deciding between the first two controllers, the 2 speed and the FK-50p. Which one should I use? Do they both work equally well? Is the FK worth the extra $70?

Nevermind, found the answer
