At that point I don't know if it is really worth it since you get what you pay for. Not nly that but most cops can beat them with only turning the gun on when it can get you.

Very true...with the latest police technology, most radar/laser detectors are only good for letting you know you about to get pulled over. I would personally spend the money on something else. If you have the tendecy to speed, just try using the cruise control. Good luck!

I don't know of any good ones in that price range. However if you decide to spend more I couldn't be happier with my Escort Passport 8500 X50.

If you get the 8500, get it from Escort on Ebay. 8500s are no longer made, they are refurbs. Only 8500s through Escort are warranteed.

In your price range there are only two decent detectors:

Whistler SE series (XTR690SE, XTR695SE and Pro78SE)
Escort refurbed 8500

Problem is he won't find a V1 in that price range, and depending on his uses it may be too chatty if he's primarily a city driver.

Instant on will beat a detector every time. If I see a detector in your car you will get a ticket, no question.

Beltronics 955. Best detector in the 200$ range hands down, i wouldn't get anything less than that. If you want a really nice one go for the passport 9500ix though, but they are a little pricier.

And obviously jammers and a hidden unit w/ seperator sensors in the front and back would be much better, but you're driving a pickup, not a sports car

A couple of rabbits and a CB will beat instant on . And you won't see mine where it is --- not unless you ignore my rights when I say "no, you can't search the car, am I free to go now?"
