I suspect that your installer connected the controllers to an always hot circuit. Do the fans remain on even after the engine cools off?

x2 I did this as well at first. I remedied my issue by using an extra wire I had from the radio head unit to be the signal wire.

So is there a controller that you guys believe to be of much higher quality than the rest? I dont mind spending the extra money if it means a longer life and better performance from the controller.

Yes, the fans remain on forever until battery drains or I remove the fuse. But I don't think believe the tech connected the controllers to an always hot circuit and if he did is because Troyer instructed him to do so cause he has installed the controllers in the past guided by Troyer's assistance.

The controllers worked for less that 2 weeks, as did the other 3, then they fail.

FYI OGT, when you complain about Troyer, he and his friends tend to think your bashing. You'll eventually get written off, ignored. etc. I been there, I complained about his tune being too rich still, he pointed at my maf pid and said in a nutshell I was an idiot or incompetent mechanic. ever since then I've been ignored by him, and had a few ruffled feathers of his friends on here.

I do not bash the guy, but I do have some hard feelings about that $475 I spent for a refined tune that never happened because we didnt get along, then my trans crapped.

Do yourself a favor, have your installer with you and look at your signal wire on the relay and where that is pulling power from. I would say find the wire for control power to your head unit, but your probably has a 10 min timer until you open the door? my milan does.

I think if a member here shares his experience with a product and the customer service he received over said product it isnt bashing, its the truth. Troyer stepped up because of this thread and the controllers were installed per their instructions. The fact of the matter is something is wrong with the controllers. OGTerror isnt the only one who has had problems with them. Maybe because of all this Troyer will find a solution.

After my troyer controllers melted, I ordered the fk50 also. I agree, bulletproof so far, I towed a 22ft boat alot last summer in stop and go traffic with a/c on and quite a few times offroading on the beach. Cut you losses and get the fk50 and be done with it.

Ok so I have a set of fans from troyer and I havent gotten around to installing them yet. I dont want to take any chances so I am going to buy new controllers. Do I need just one or two controllers as I want to do it right the 1st time and only one time.

I only have 1 controller for both fans, they run simultaneously but only at the percentage needed to maintain the set temp. When you turn on the AC they run at 50%. Less wiring needed also.

I'm using the controllers that came with my kit and haven't had any issues. It's been 8 months. After four sets of controller failures, Og is still using the same installers. That could also be a variable in his issue. Hopefully, he'll critique the cheap controllers too.

Yes I'm using the same installer who talked to Troyer and his assistances, same installer who asked questions and was guided step by step to install the controllers as per Troyers instructions. Yes I will definitely update you all on the new set of "cheap" controllers. They go out in the same time and manner Troyer's controls did, I will then have to have a "serious" talk to my installer.

Here are the new controllers:

Yup, I"ll certainly keep all posted; today I'm taking the truck for the weekend and testing the new "cheap" controllers. If they don't cook, as Troyer's controllers did in the first 1 hr, I'll be riding about 12 to 14 hours a day for 2 days and 2 nights. Refer to Thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/of...oll-again.html

Most if not all of my riding will be documented cause I'm also testing my new handy-cam accessories, check thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ge...era-mount.html
