Custom bumper/winch hitch build

Well I want/need a winch and I was sick of the wussy look of the stock bumper, so with the help of my dad and a local metal fab guy, we built the following.

1: Great White's about to get some new protection

2: Used, bent push bar off craigslist, only 25$ though. Dont worry it will look great!

3: Old receiver hitch off my S10 Blazer, was just laying around

4: Cut off the flanges with my dad

5: Went to work with the sawzall on the OEM POS

6: Bye, Bye plastic

We fabbed it up and then sent it to the shop for full welding with a 220v, so i got no pics of it being built...

7: Here it is once we got it back

8: And some up close shots of the integrity of the bumper (more on that later)

9: We took the bumper apart, narrowed it 2", straightened it, then re welded

10: Here it is getting ready for paint

11: With a coat of Krylon Rust Proof Primer and some Adhesiver Promoter before that

12: All in all ended up with 2 coats of primer, and 3 coats of glossy black Krylon Rust Proof Paint

13: And finished product, going to let it cure for a few days, then wash the whole truck and I will post some more pics.

-We jacked up the whole front of the truck with the jack on the hitch and it was fine, also had my 270 pound roommate (the guy in the pic) jump on it and it was not budging a mm. Now I need to buy a winch and make a plug in attachment. Enjoy and comment away.

Man that looks awesome. Very impressed. Ive often wondered what one of those police style push bars would look like on our trucks. Time for some off road lights too!

Wow

I admire anyone that can basically take a load of crap and have the vision to create something that looks so good! You did a great job, and best of all you did it yourself!!
