Yukon gear owners chime in please!

I just ordered a full set of 4.88 Yukon gears and master install kits. The mechanic who is installing them said that he has had nothing but bad luck with Yukon's in the past. He said they are hard to get aligned and they are noisy. Is this true? Did any of you have install issues? Are your gears noisy?

Don't know much about the install,,,but I've been running 4.10 Yukons in my rear for over 3 years and have never heard any noise whatsoever from them!
Any gears will make noise if there not installed properly. So if you end up with noisy gears,,,your installer is not doing a good job.

Yeah that's what I figured. I told the guy that the majority of people on this site are running Yukon's and I've never heard anything bad about them. I had Ford Racing gears in my Mustang and they made noice during the break-in period but that went away pretty quick. Maybe he's just been impatient in the past. Thanks man

Must be him and his install, no offense but I have heard nothing but excellent reviews of Yukon gears. That is why I bought them, and have had them running for over a year now with zero problems. My gear/tranny guy recommended Yukon, or Precision.

I'd find a new installer. I had one guy tell me that also. He was pushing his house brand on me.

My Yukons are as loud as stock.

I guess every mechanic has a "favorite" part. Mine likes Richmond. However, my Ford Racing Performance Parts ring & pinion dropped in w/out any issues.

i have a little more noise than stock. nothign horrible. I have yukons in both axles. I was going to order precision, but my shop claimed they had little luck with the setup on those which is interesting because most people say they are a good brand.

I would find a new installer. Either he's trying to sucker you into whatever he sells or he is a bad installer. Either way is bad.

I've been running Yukon 4.56's in my truck for well over a year now with absolutely zero issues. Like FX4, I have heard nothing except good things about Yukon so that's why I had that brand installed in my truck.

So I went into the shop the other day because the guy installing them had a problem with the rear. I emailed the guy that I bought them from and he informed me that Yukon doesn't just sell Yukon gears. They buy other quality r&p's and box them in Yukon packaging and sell them as Yukon's too. Turns out the rear gears I got were Yukon's and the front's were another brand. Both came in factory Yukon packaging. Just though everybody should know that. The issue is resolved now and I should be getting my truck back today. Turns out that the bearing they use in the 08's is different than other years so the pinion shaft was being pushed out further than it needed to be. The gears themselves went in and set fine.
