Help kenwood dnx7100

Hi Guys, I have an issue. I have the kenwood dnx7100 installed in my 04 fx4. I blew a fuse a couple of days ago and the whole system stopped working. Easy enough change a fuse and im good to go right.... Well i checked both fuse 31 and 7 and both are good and the fuses on the h/u that i found are good. The unit will still open and close but i get a flashing red light from the bottom left side of the unit. I was curious if anyone had an ideas or thoughts as to what the problem might be. Thanks guys hopefully you can help me.

Holla at KCAutosound. He's a huge Kenwood dealer and would know about those. Have you tried resetting it?

i tried resetting it and that is when the red light starts blinking which i am guessing is some form of protect mode and when it will eject a disc.

Man, I honestly dont know crap about Kenwood's error screens/msgs. Have you unplugged it, waited 5 min then plugged it back in?

If that doesnt work, Holla at KC. Then, next would be call Kenwood.

I have the 7120, vitually the same hu. Mine did the exact same thing one day and it was fuse 31.

Looks can be decieving, swap in a known good fuse and see what happens.

As stated before. Check the fuses again. Take a simple test light and probe the tops of the fuses on both sides. If you haven't noticed there is a small bit of metal on the top of the fuse so that you can probe it.

If all fails then remove the radio and check your red wire on the radio harness and make sure there is power there with the ignition on.

If that fails then call Kenwood's Tech Line at 310-763-1406

try resetting the unit again, the button on the lower left corner of the screen.

There is nothing wrong with using a test light to test the fuses. Sure a meter is the recommended tool but some guys just don't understand how to work a meter. Test light on...it's good, Test light off....no good.

You may have woke up a problem that was in some of the DNX7100s and the DNX7019s of that year. I had a few that I sold or installed that once they were powered up and the screen dropped they would not return to the closed position. Out of the 50 or so of them I sold that year I had about 6 or so that had this problem. The only way a customer could get it to close was to turn the truck back off and it would close after powering down. These radios were under warranty back then and Kenwood would replace them for me. Being that your unit is out of warranty I would suggest contacting the tech number I mentioned above and see what can be done about this problem.
