Well guys it was a sad day in my household yesterday. I got home from work and was cooking myself some dinner when my truck alarm was set off. I look out the window and saw kids running from the truck. I go down to check it out and this is what I see:



From this bad pic it does not look that wide but it is about as wide as my index finger, and it is about 10 to 12 inches long. Towards the front half of the scratch there is a nice big dent, the metal was creased. So I am going to be pushing for a new door skin.


Luckily the mom came over and made things right. She gave me her information and now I am just waiting for the claims adjuster to give me a call. Its going to need a door the metal is crease (bad pick you can't see it) and the scratch goes from a spot on the box, crosses over to the cab, and then to the rear drivers side door.

 

WTF?????????? People are so messed up. I would love to catch someone messing around with someone's vehicle. It wouldn't be a pretty sight. So they just keyed it then or actually ran into it with something??? Do you think they were trying to do more than just that but then the alarm scared them off? Sucks man - Our body shop out here though is pretty slow if you need someone to repair it I'm sure they'd be happy to work with ya! lol

Sorry to see this though - that would really **** me off! Hope it all works out - Keep us updated.

 

Na I think they were just screwing around in the parking lot and my truck was in the wrong spot. The kid was riding one of those junky wal-mart special bikes with those sheet metal handlebars. He went to turn around and just crushed the truck got a spot on the box as well. I was pissed but at least they came out and gave me all the info. And on top of all that the apartments I live in were marked by thieves. I guess lately in north Lincoln we have been having a lot of apartment break ins and they have been marking door jams with x's for the ones that don't have people home during the day. Well me and my neighbor got it and we both work all day. We are not to thrilled about it so last night just sucked. But I am waiting for the adjuster to see how its going to be handled. When they ask for quotes, I will be stopping by and see what you guys can do then I will go and get a couple others as well. What a mess....

 

That sucks, I've been there before. About two vehicles ago I had a little Mazda Protege 5 and I had it parked out in my driveway. There were a group of kids from 7 to 10 outside playing when one lost control of his bike and ran his handle bars into the back of the car and broke the tail light on the passenger side and scratched the paint. They took off running and I went to the kids house and the mom gave her house ins. info. I was pissed too, the car was less then 6 months old at the time.

 

Ya, that is the worst part I am just afraid that they are going to try and fix it shotty. Which is not going to work for me in any way shape or form. So now I am waiting for the adjuster to call so I can get the ball rolling on this. I am going to be making them give me a rental car while the truck is in the shop. Not looking forward to driving anything other then my truck.

 

Yea that sucks - they will need to repaint the entire bedside and drivers rear door to blend out the color so it will match properly. Sucks how such a small scratch needs so much work in repairs. I can't imagine my door to my place of residence being 'marked'?? I would go crazy thinking about that all day long. Hope you have some good insurance!

I hear ya there. The local Mazda dealership did the work on my Mazda I had and I got one of there crappy rentals too. But back when I had my Cobra and had the transmission work done I got rentals from Enterprise and 3 times they didn't have an actual car for me so I ended up getting an extended cab 4wd RAM. It was the same truck all 3 times. So, does the adjuster decide where your truck is going to get fixed? or will they just write you a check?

 

This sucks big time. I couldn't imagine what I would do if someone messed up my truck.

 

Ya, I hate it. I took all my guns, and the blue ray player and a few other really expensive things over to my parents house for a couple weeks. I also have my 9 mm and clips ready to go any second I need to next to the bed. A

I am hoping the later of the two. But either way I will be a real stickler about it. They will fix it the right way or I will go ape sh#%.

 

I am surprised at how calm I stayed about the whole thing. I actually felt kinda bad for the kid because he started crying but I definitely made it clear that it was going to be fixed the right way.

 

Sounds like you handled it the right way. S#^% happens sometimes, but at least someone is taking responsibility. Good luck with your repairs.

 

Yeah I could see you maybe kicking your tires or throwing some stuff around a bit. So did you have to track down the kid or did he just tell his mom and she came to handle it?
