Welcome to the board.

Actually I was floating a drift on the large river branch side of the lake 2 miles west of Camdenton. When my boat broke down last weekend... (over by Roach) I put in at the Larry R Guild access. I do ussally try to attend the Dam Reunion (Bike Rally @ Bagnell) each year.
There is also ussally a big car show sometime in July at the Dam too that I try to attend sometimes. Can't remeber the name of it though. The KCWS Porsche club meets at Tan-Tar-A in Septemebr and I try to meet up with those guys too. (No I dont have a Porsche Yet. I just got hooked up with them and they are great to hang out with.)... Kind of like here.

Matt:
I was adrift on that side of the lake back in 1985---with a paddle against the wind ;-)
I fish the backs around the public access [Larry Gale] close to home along with the Ha Ha Tonka cove. I had more luck down at PB#1 in Osage Beach. The car club meets in Lebanon [frozen custard by Wally World] once in a while---I'm not too sure of dates.
Keep On Keepin On,
Gary

Candy's always has a car show on, "I think" it is the third Saturday of every month.
Do you have a show car?
I've probably seen you at candy's at some time. Untill last year I was showing my White 81 Trans Am at a few local events like Candy's and The Annual Priority Prom Car show in Lebanon. It is out of commision currently waiting to be rebuilt and restored.. "again".
It'll be restored the right way this time! Maybe a few small un noticable improvements. It'll be from the ground up though and every bolt and clip will even be new on it.

I went to PB #1 two weeks ago and they wanted to charge me $7 to put in... I was just testing the boat out wasnt going to be out more than an hour... So I went to Larry R. Access instead. Even though it's closer to me.. I'm not real familiar with Lake of the Ozarks water ways. I ussally go to Pomme De Terre because there is less traffic there.

When I was a float all I had was a paddle. I blew out my engine coupler... I thought that the current was carrying me in the right direction. Until som fisher men seen me paddeling and came over to help. They informed me that I was not only going the wrong direction but that I was also 4 miles from the Larry R. Ramp! I didn't realize that I had gone that far.
Luckily a lady was down there painting the inside of her lake house and heard us yealling at each other on the water. She was nice enough to come out and tell me I could use her dock, then went on to give my dog and I a ride over to get my truck & trailer. THEN.. Got her Bayliner off of the lift and pulled me over to thier developments ramp that was 3 docks down. She has to be the best woman in the whole world, after all of that then she wouldn't take a dime from me.

Edited to add:
If you happen to see a White 1976 Tri Hull floating around the Larry R. Guild area .... That's probably me so please stop and me... LOL
That means that I made an adjustment some where and was there trying it out and it might not have worked as well as I had planned. LOL

cool---the story of your boat trip is so close to my 1st outing in my old 15.5 foot run about/10hp motor---lost the prop at 2:00 in the PM and drifted to a dock where the people try to help us---a guy that was working on his Bayliner said he was going for a shake down trip and was glad to take me to my Camino at the 54 hwy bridge and we load the boat at his place some 4-6 miles from where we put in. It only took him 5/7 mins. for the same trip that took us all morning and 2 hours of the PM. ;-( He even let us fish at his place---turned out his wife and my were friends :-)
We just got the Pontiac back on the road this past year [in the shop at the moment] I bought this 1978 T/A on the last day of 1978, white, t-tops, 402, no bird on the hood. need to do the weather stripping, carpet, head liner, needs to be painted, [I hate that, but guess it needs to be done] Hope to see you at Candy's they said they will be meeting at Mexicalli Blues this Thursday evening---I'm new in the club as of last Thursday [still learning]
We use to go to I-44 all the time---still like racin, just not as much interest as it was.

That is just to wierd...
This is my first boat too... I just bought it about a month and a 1/2 ago. 19' Marquee, Stern drive, open bow, 188 HP, Mercruiser 302 V8. That was the 4th time that I've had it out "Since I bought it" I've been borrowing it occasionally from the guy for the last 3 years. It had sat all last year never went out. It needed some tuning to run right so that's what I was down there doing. It was running great until the Engine Coupler gave out. "Guess I tuned it to well and it wasn't use to having that much HP again"... LOL

If you'll read the Lets Talk about boats..... (Post pics if you want) Thread then I've been keeping chrinciles on the boats reapairs since it broke. I just got the engine pulled out this evening. Hopefully it will be back on the lake by this weekend.

Also the 81 TA I've had since I was 18.. Currently it has a blown motor. Long story short Carb went bad, putting new one on, wife was starting it for me, something went wrong and it reved uncontrolably, She thought it was me and didn't hear me yelling to shut it off, I hear POP and it starts knocking! I'm sure you know that 301's are externally balanced so they do not hold up to 7K or more RPM's very well. LOL
Mines pretty plain White, Blue Bird, 301 "For time being maybe", Auto, manual everything else.
Needs new engine, some body work, door pins "of course", new paint, weather stripping, new seats and it would be a nice car again. But wanting to tear it down and rebuild it to mint from the gound up. Plus maybe 4 wheel disk brakes, maybe a 6.6L engine, everything else pretty much stock. That's when/if I ever have the money and the time.

boats are fun, I sold my old "junker" a few years ago and now fish from the bank. You should have nice fast boat!
My 6.6 was replaced under warranty back in 1979---blown at 18850 miles, we are at 82xxx now. costs are no fun to have to figure up on replacing parts!

What hapened to the 6.6 in 79'?

Mine has 96,XXX miles... Time got to it more than the miles did. It only had 56,XXX when I bought it 12 years ago. I drove it alot the first couple years. "Actually it was a daily driver then." But when it hit 80K I bought an S-10 to keep the miles off of the TA. I should have drove it more and enjoyed it. I will ejoy it again some day, sooner or later.

The engine blew at about 19000 miles. I had it only 9 mo.s
I met a fellow TA owner about a year later. He told me his story about his 1978 TA. Same thing about the same mileage. His take on it was the crank didn't have enough oil return grooves and the premature death---
The dealship gave me a new engine after about 3 mo.s
Wish I kept diving it like you mentioned. The daughter is the driving force behind getting it back on the road again. She's 18 and likes cars.
The car club may help line out the things that need replaced--carpet, head liner, t-top weatherstriping---a good paint job.
So far it seems promising. May find better quality products for cheaper prices---I hope anyway, at least the expert advice will be welcomed.
Keep the dream alive, don't let someone talk you out of your TA. Not yet---look at what the Mopars are bring on the Barrett Jackson Auctions---Mustangs, etc... the time is getting ripe for the TA market.
My cousin had a 1967 TA Ram Air white, dual blue racing strips--cool car, sold it about the time I bought my '78. sold to someone in Lebanon. I saw it a few time [I think] back in 1980. Not many of them around---pretty pricey.
Many people keep asking when I'm going sell the TA---why, it's been paid for along time, why now???
Sorry to bore you
Regards
