Hydrolocked, ouch. How did that work out for him? And that was the deepest hole we went through. We checked the depth as much as we could before we went for it. I wasnt going to do it but my budy in his dodge went so I couldnt back down. I think it looked worse on the ford cuz all the air dam stuff on our rigs caused a tall wave. Next time you definately should come, I dont know where im going out there once I go over a dune, we were just driving around.
Here's a pic of my CJ5 facing towards that pit in the picture/videos.

Definitely looks worse on vehicles with a lot of front bumper dress-up stuff. Next time you guys are going down I will definitely try to tag-a-long...if you wouldn't mind - shoot me a PM and let me know when to chime in to this section. I know pretty much that entire area down there due to being friends with at least 15 locals of the 4x4 area. Where did you guys stay when you went down for the weekend? My girlfriends house is in Whalehead and I'm down there every other weekend all summer.
There are a few good places I could probably show you. There isn't a ton in the ways of obstacles and stuff but riding around down there in general is a good time.
I agree, I have a blast just riding around. I'm not looking to tear up my rig anyway...way to expensive for that. If we had real off road parks and trails around here I would look into getting a old used jeep, so I dont have to worry about little dings and scratches. But my truck is my daily driver and tow rig for my toys. I dont mind getting it dirty and into some stuff, thats why I lifted it on 35's, but theres still a line I dont want to cross.
Surprised how long running of a thread this is, Im from out towards Newport News/Yorktown but Im out at Radford for school. Got my first F150 about a month ago, she's basically stock right now, is there anywhere out here I can have some fun in my rig without tearing it up?
Not really really here in hampton roads. Not a whole lot to look forward too. There is spot out behind the norfolk airport but beware, there's a nice powerline road right around merchants tire right off of 64 in chesapeake. Not a whole lot else that everyone has access to.
Haha small world man...I go to Radford. Are you a student here? I don't really know of too many places around here but I am friends with a few guys in the Radford Off-Road Club that know of some places. Looking for just mostly mud or light trails?
I sure am. I saw the Off Road Club but wasnt sure how active they still were. Mostly a lil mud, trails aint bad but my stock rig aint gonna do much on the trail side of things, plus im not trying to tear my truck up.

Nice! Same here, I live over on Lightside on the first block of Clement St. Mine is stock as well with a few sound system updates and the roof rack and tonneau and stuff. Off road club is decently active, I don't really participate in the club that much, mostly just spot for people and ride along.
I'll find some videos and post them here for you, some pretty good stuff.
Yeah, that seemed to be a bit of a lightly modded group. I've been on a ride along with them that was basically a 14 mile rock garden. It was interesting. lol
