If you guys make a habit of light scratching during your off-road activities, you might want to look into a DA polisher and something like Meg's MF correction system. I'm part of a detailing forum (outside of F150; the detailing forum on here sucks) and have been a detailing enthusiast for MANY years. If you guys need advice on tools/products, let me know. There are SO many options out there. Usually what you find on the shelf is the bottom of the barrell.

from today

Did this on purpose

Got some good videos today, went thru a couple holes a little deeper then i would have wanted, but the truck is ok so thats all that matters.

and bigsur, i may need your services to get those scratches out better, still can kinda see them. I usually just have wynne ford detail it, wash, wax etc. I should probably get the steam clean on the engine this time too, lol. Theres a question for you, how should i clean the engine?

Ruffn-it....I'm not too big on cleaning engines....mine is dirty as can be. I can always post a question for you though if you want me to. As far as your scratches, as long as they are not through the clear coat, you should be able to get them out. Some spot correction with a DA should do the trick.

They dont seem deep at all, I couldn't see them after I quickly rubbed some meguires scratch remover on there. But now I can slightly see them at the right angle. I think of I wax or buff it out it would go away. As far as the engine I was going to have it steamed clean, thats what the detail shop at wyne ford does. I've seen on you tube people spray sone purple degreaser or something everywhere then pressure wash it off. I'm alittle weary about spraying the engine with all the electrical stuff in there. I have sprayed my engine of my 01 a few times without problems though. Whats DA.

Scratches.....you probably just need to go at it with a Dual Action (DA) polisher and some actual corrective compound....with a cutting pad. You can follow that up with a finish polish.....something with very minimal abrasives...if any. you can then follow up wiht a LSP or "last step product"....something like a wax, glaze or sealant. Some product lines offer All-In-One's that will do everything in one step but sometimes it's best to do things in phases. Also, they've now come out with a microfiber system that can reduce correction time in comparison to traditional foam. MANY options and products to choose from but I can lead you in the right direction if you want opinions.

Engine....yeah I've just heard that there's certain "parts" that you definitely don't want to get wet. Most people do it with no issues and/or cause major damage...opposite extremes. I think my guys on the detailing forums do as much spraying and wiping with an All Purpose Cleaner as they can.....they keep the washing and rinsing to a minimum.

Am I hurting anything with the meguires scratch remover? If not I might try a better job at the polishing it on again. If that dosnt work il have to get a shipping list from you for the next option.

No, I doubt your hurting anything. That product is only so abrasive and there is only so much you can do by hand. I can't see you going through your clear coat by hand unless your wiping with really high RPMs That's why most end up going to a DA and other products....does a better job in less time. However, note that rubbing your surface like that might induce new swirls and marring that can be hard to get out, i.e. you won't damage your clear but you might dull the surface. IF that happens, you may need to follow up with a finish polish, sealant, etc.

Edit...I asked some of my resources just to be sure. As I thought, be careful about spot rubbing small areas with a lot of pressure. You might induce marring and swirling. Your scratches might be gone but you'll have a dulled surface. Might be better to take an easy approch covering the area around the scratches as well....basically a broader area with as little pressure as possible. If all else fails, PM me.

This was supposed to be quoted from Ruffnit's above post...

I actually know exactly where this is...towed my buddies hydro-locked 2010 F250 out of it with my CJ5 after it sat there over night. One of my good buddies that I regularly visit down there has a house just off the beach at MP 19.5. I'll have to start paying more attention to you guys' trip plans. I'd love to meet up with some fellow enthusiasts. Also, really enjoyed the videos!

Hydrolocked, ouch. How did that work out for him? And that was the deepest hole we went through. We checked the depth as much as we could before we went for it. I wasnt going to do it but my budy in his dodge went so I couldnt back down. I think it looked worse on the ford cuz all the air dam stuff on our rigs caused a tall wave. Next time you definately should come, I dont know where im going out there once I go over a dune, we were just driving around.
