Hope it's not TOO quiet haha.

I'm about 3 to 5 days from picking up a brand new travel trailer. Very excited about it. I'll post pics when I can. Need to find somewhere to store the thing first.

It is too quiet, everyone must be out stimulating the economy. Update on my boat driveway, I dug out a good section just around the tires to lay bricks and found that just under the top surface of grass is gravel from the previous owner. Well I layed the bricks so the tires arnt sitting on grass anymore, but either way its hard ground with a base of gravel just under the grass. If I do anything else it would be crush-n-run, and maybe a carport over it.

Bigsur,
Good luck finding a place, there's some storage lots that let you keep campers, boats etc. in them. At least you got the street to park on if you put it in the driveway.

Pony,
Thanks, got about 12hrs on it now, loving it. But I'm sure when I have to start fixing stuff i'l hate it. So what you going to do with a diesel?

Just so you know, I made one phone call for you and the guy never called me back. I never made any additional calls...got busy. Looks like you've got it worked out though.

I think I'm going to just make the camper fit.....I've got room.....it'll just have to be a little tight Hope all is well.

Its all good, I appreciate you asking. I figured I got a 2k estimate from two different people/companies that were a friend of a friend doing me a favor so that's probably the best i'l get..minus doing it myself. But like I said, a friend of mine just bought a boat and put crush-n-run down then tamped it down, now its just like concrete at a fraction of the cost. So if I do anything it will be that, just be a pain to dig up that rock. I'm going to see how my current setup works and go from there. But thanks again for checking, i'l have to come by and check out your trailer parking when you get it.

Please post pics when done, and if you don't mind, I'd be curious to know about what you paid for it......reason being that I have a grassy area next to my driveway that's very similar in dimensions and that's where I'm about to be placing the 30' camper I'm buying next week. I will likely do exactly what you're doing.....gravel is the way to go.

I was paying for $26.50/ton for AASHTO #57 on one of my last jobs....not sure if that is crush and run or not...I'll have to call my guy.

I'm looking at replacing my current 2-car driveway and third side parking extension with a full 3-car driveway now. I'm out of town so haven't had a quote yet, but should be getting one very soon. I just hope I can find someone willing to do it!

Ok here are a few pics from my budys. But basically he tilled the area, pulled the dirt out, lined it with treated 4x4's and put stakes thru them. Then ordered the crush and run to be delivered, and rented a tamper to tamp it down (you dont have to do this but makes everything nice and smooth/flat.

He said the crush and run was just under $23 bucks a ton and he needed 6 tons for his 10x24ft. They charged $75 for delivery.. So all that plus the lumber and $50 for the tamper rental he was at like $300.

Appreciate the pics Ruffn-it. So...he has timbers UNDER the crush n run? Even salt or pressure treated, won't those rot and degrade over time...causing the top to settle? I was thinkng I might just do a sand to crush n run base and tamp it down. I'll probably do some edging like what your buddy has as well. Looks good!

Here's a pic of the new addition. Picked it up last week. It took some time to get it backed in the way I wanted it, but it fit like a glove after the 3rd or
4th try. Can't wait to actually use this thing.

No, he dug it out and just framed it with treated 4x4's and then poured the crush and run in the frame on dirt. About 4in thick I believe.
