chipped blackwood

ok update i have just sent the .ORI file from the pcm to diablo and should have the very first program tomorrow and we test fitted a 12 s&b filter onto the mass air but not happy w/ fit i think i might try using the throttle body boot from the L and use a longer piece of pipe and almost use a lightning style filter assembly

well i'll keep you guys posted

Looks like Diablo should have a program for my Blackwood tomorrow. Looking up for some racing on Saturday. I'm hoping to get a few base runs in since I haven't had her out yet. Then we'll plug in the chip & see how she flys. I'll let you know what numbers I get.

You two crack me up. It's almost like it's a conversation with yourself rather than another person. (ie. Post thread... log on with different name, post reply... log on with first screen name, post reply........) HAHAHA!!

I enjoy swinging by to read the Blackwoods threads now!

Yeah, it's almost as if they never see each other in person. I peruse the Blackwood forum since I have a number of Blackwood parts on my King Ranch.

Well he works midnights & I work days. So we do only see each other at night before he goes to work, but the baby usually takes up that time. If you think this is bad, you should hear/see us argue on the MiLoc board. Fortunately for us, most of the guys over there have met both of us since we go to meets & racing together.

Just remeber, the family that plays together, stays together...or something like that.

edit: see how bad it gets. Now go to bed!

About that Chip

Uh, ready&ready, it is fun as all get out reading about your relationship with each other, but what about the bloody chip?

For myself, after delusions of grandeur about blowers and all sorts of things like that, I have decided to stick with a chip'nfilter and cat back exhaust. I know Superchips has a standard flip chip for the base Gator motor and one of the advertisers here assures me that their filter for the Gator will work. The exhaust will be decided upon later.

Anyway, I am curious to hear how the chip you ordered turned out so I have an alternative to consider. I know the Superchip as I had one on my Lightning.

Come on guys, give it up
Bill

Well Bill, Robert actually downloaded my computer to his programer & sent it to Diablo. So my chip will have a Blackwood program not a Gator. Once we get the basic program Robert can tweek it.

As for the filter, we tried his Johnny Lightning air box & it fits but we need to make a smaller boot for it to give it a little more room.

The program is ready!!! I will be testing out at the track on Saturday. Hopefully I can make 1 or 2 passed w/o it (to get some stock base line numbers), then plug it in & see what she can do. I'll post Sunday or Monday with results. Wish me luck.

results in track thread

I put most of the details in the other thread about track results, but I ran very consistant until we put the chip in. Then it ran slower. Robert has done some testing with my truck in the backlots at Ford (I found out afterward) & we now think part of the problem it had was because of the traction control. I ran with it on, except for the burnout (which I couldn't do). His theory is that the traction control compensated for the more power that was coming to the wheels because of the chip. Unfortunatelty we won't be able to make it to the track again until the spring, but we have good hopes still.

All in all, I was happy with how the truck ran, 16.27 was my best run of the day.
