Removing 4# JDM pulley??????

Hey guys.

Friends truck is needing service and guy at shop wants all mods off so he can troubleshoot., I just broke a snap on ratchet trying to get it loose,

I am not on a 1/2 18 inch breaker bar with an extra 5-8 inches of bar on it, and cannot BUDGE this *******ing thing. Bolt is starting to strip off.

Any other ideas? I think even with a pipe wrench it'll just slip around and ruin the pulley.

Please any suggestions drop me a line or call me

Thanks in advance!
Brandon

pulley

The 14mm is reverse thread make sure you are turning it counter clock wise to tighten and clockwise to loosen!

Wink

save some time and get out the 24" pipe wrench. heat doesn't work. you can clean up the wrench scars later

Of course you remember it is reverse threaded... Get the cheater on it and put some pressure on it then have someone tap the shaft to get it to break loose... The 450 ftlbs gets it pretty tight

Also it should be possible but not easy to remove the 3 bolts (if you have 99-2000 ) with out removing the pulley. Just take 3 cage bolts off and use offset wrnech to try to get bolts.

Good Luck

This makes me want to ask, if there is some kind of anti-sieze I should apply before I do mine?

Just like Doug said it is possible to remove the 3 bolts without removing the pulley. When i was at JDM's and they were taking off my stock lower that the dealer put on for me when i had problems with my truck. They couldnt break it lose for *****. So they did exactly what Doug said and took the 3 bolts off without taking the pulley off. So just goes to show you its not just aftermarket pullies that are a bitch to get off stock ones can be just as much of a bitch if not worse.

well this is a 2k2, and i've tried to get to the bolts, no way to get at them =(

We gave up at 11, We beat, pryed, heated, pipe wrenched it all, and as i said, the PULLEY now turns, crank sits still, and hub still remains seated on crank. Soo the keyway or whatever is in there is now snapped (that ******er is on there)

Only thing i can think of left to do is hit the front side of the cage with the sawzaw, and attempt to get at the bolts. Pulley is most certainly going to be ruined after we get it off. =/
