Removing 4# JDM pulley??????
The 2002's dont have the ring bolted to the crank... Inthe 99-2000s there were 3 bolts behind the cage and pulley that held the ring that the pulley spun into on the crank... Not sure what your choices are now... I would call JDM
Here is a picture of one I worked on.
You can see the 3 bolts in that picture...
I used 24" pipe wrench and 3 foot cheater and all it did was grind metal off the shaft stub.

this was the sob, that wouldn't budge. i was going to cut it in half with a sawzall, so that i could get to the 3 bolts. JDM said to try the pipe wrench on the hub of the pulley. it worked, and i was able to unbolt the spindle.
sorry, i didn't know the 02's were different. maybe a pic of what you are up against might help. a lot of us tried "everything" also, and enlisted the help of others, so maybe someone can help
I'm taking mine off of my '01 so I might have some pics later on today. I've already broke the 3/4 inch head off. 2 3/4 inch socket is ready to take the gold hub off and then a pipe wrench...

The above picture is a 99/00 style.
This is my 2001

Still can't get this off. Any suggestions? I'm guessing a cutting torch may damage the oil pump, oils seal, crank???

do all aftermarket pulley's have this much trouble in removal? I have a 2lb pulley on mine right now, and would like to upgrade, but if it will be this problematic, then there is no point to changing it.

I could be wrong, but the only people having the pulley removal problems are those who purchased the JDM caged pulley.

This makes me wonder how many people installing the JDM pulleys actually follow the included instructions and use and anti-sieze compound on the threads as directed????????

(this doesn't have to be a hate thread, just one which informs those with caged pullies how to remove them.)

...ok, I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to this...
Well said.
Oh, here is a pic after removal. You can see anti-seize on the threads...

pulley was installed by JDM in New Jersey, and I just talked
to Jim on the phone. It is one of the last older style cages
and it has the pulley Locktited to the shaft. The other
attachments have antiseize on them as required.
Since we experienced this problem, Jim has graciously
offered (when we get the d a m n thing off!) to replace
the pulley with the newest design with the "Big-Rig"
six sided nut. As with all "custom" designs, there
are steps to perfection. I just ran across one of the
risers ... <grin> There is prolly a very GOOD reason
for the original "caged" design, but it kinda escapes
you when you have the problem. Maybe another
thread can discuss the three bolt on design v.s. the
caged?
Hopefully we can get this off tonight so I can get the
truck to the dealer for diagnosis tomorrow morning.
Thanks for all y'all's help and suggestions.
Cliff
PS... Doug? Did you do that to yours or did the dealer?
I thought I saw you post somewhere that the dealer
attempted to take yours off?
PPS... Makes me wish I would a crawled up under there
when Shawn was installing it so I would KNOW what the
d a m n hub looked liked ...
