Cool

HI!.... The HD SC 5.4's are also running the old style NON"P.I" exhaust manifolds. I noticed this fact about 2 months ago when a buddy took me through the WINDSOR ENGINE PLANT that builds the LIGHTNING and HD SC'ed 5.4's. The "L" and HD engines were right next to each other on the assembly line. That's when I noticed that the HD SC'ed 5.4's use the older style exhaust manifolds from the PRE- "99" 5.4's. Why FORDS does this? Who knows!!!!!

You might want to double check that. The Lightning cast exhaust manifold is the same as a non Lightning Triton manifold and the same as the Harley manifold. The non PI head ports are not even the same as the PI head ports, so I don't see why Ford would put on a mis matched manifold.

JDM isnt a person, its a performance parts dealer thats sells mostly Lightning parts. Jim{the owner}has his own forum over at
www.nloc.net That would be the best place to ask him.

Well one things for sure. The Harley motors are bound to leak oil.

Cool

HI!... LIGHTNING TUNER : This was double checked and triple checked while I was at the plant. The HD engines were hanging right next to the LIGHTNING engines and the exhaust manifolds were totally different from each other. I have 2 pairs of "99" and "2000" 5.4 "P.I" cast iron manifolds in my garage and a set from my "98" 5.4 crate engine. The ones from my "98" are a exact duplicate of what I saw on the HD engines. I wish I would of been allowed to bring a camera in with me. I could of at least takin some cool pics.

as for the JDM guys...where are they located?.....do they have a web site?.....

what was the differance in power between the 99 and 2002 "L"s? and what was the reason for the rise in HP?....
also what does P.I. mean?.....im sorry im not hip to the ford lingo yet...but ill get there quickly.......i was out at tower shops last night looking at the "L"s....i got there about 10pm and parked down at the end...i didnt want to interrupt....but it was the silver lexus SC300 but anyway....thanks for the help but i think im more confused now then when i started......
different heads...PI.....diffferent exahust manifolds....lol......what about weight...whats the weight of a stock "L" vs a stock "HD"?...if im being a pain let me know...but i want to know as much as i can before buying the truck....thanks agian...Jeff

I'm pretty sure the 02 HD weighs about 600 lbs more than the L. The HD also has a different programmed chip, and longer exhaust which equals a few less ponies. And just to name teh obvious, bigger upper pulley on the HD. There are other small difference though, that i'm probably missing.
