You wanna know the difference? the difference between the Harley wanna be SVT. and My "L" is he won't be seeing the front of my truck in his rear view, but I damn sure will be seeing his.

Ken, sorry man. didn't mean to offend all you "H" owners. the truth hurts don't it. this is the lightning forum. so go belly ache on your own forum. Lightning owners got shafted when ford put OUR motor in some 4 door grocery getter and made it sound like "hey this is a four door "L". well it's not! it will never be. it's just politics in action. tit for tat. Some pencil pushers money making scheme. they said: Guys,guys wouldn't it be cool if we could put a "L" engine in a harley badged S-Crew.OH YEA! but people might think it's an SVT, that's o.k. we'll sell a bunch and make everyone with 4 kids happy because they can drive a psuedo "L". just my humble opinion, I just choose to drive the "real Thing".

 

Please, give us a break here.Is your L better than someones Harley or my superduty (wich did cost more than your L)? to you yes it probably is.A harley owner wanted a go fast truck with 4 doors and lots of style (right guys/gals?).ICan you hook up to a 8,000lb trailer and pull it? I can.Thats why I wanted a big truck.To me its perfect.Does this make other ford trucks that can't do it wannabees? nope.They are all fords and I like em all.These are all different trucks and each one fits different buyers needs/wants.

Posts like that just make us non L owners think that L owners think they are just to good to associate with us.

Bottom line is that lightning owners didn't get shafted.Did ford putting a supercharged motor in a harley make your truck slower?Did it raise the price of an L?Did it make an Ls resale value go down?Did it cause your aftermarket parts to increase in price? The answer to most ,if not all, of these is no.So therefore I see no one getting the shaft.Automakers have a habbit of putting parts that were made for one vehicle on another.

 

SVT means something to some people. that is why most people who bought lightnings have them. When the Ford people decided to put the lightning motor in a 4 door Harley I feel they lost sight of the whole objective of making an exclusive pickup for people who want to be in a different category other than just a "pickup truck owner". Cost doesn't make a hill of beans to me. I could have gotten an f-350 crew cab dually but I wanted something not too many people have. a limited edition "sport truck". I don't need to tow a big trailer or let my in-laws use my truck to move their stuff. I wanted the best SVT had to offer. Ford should have just left a good thing alone. that's all I'm Saying.

the HD didnt replace the L.......it wasnt meant to.....
for me...i wanted a truck with 4 doors ..a usefull bed ..towing abilities.....and some power...and i love the look and style both in and out of the HD.....i could care less if its an SVT....and if you wanna play im faster than you then ill whip ya with my lil 6cyl lexus....all youll see is my taill lights......what ever....you got issues man.....i came to the L forum to find out the similarities between the 2 motors....find out more about mods from the L crowd since im sure they have things down pretty good since they have been modifying the motor since 99.....
and the L is still a SVT and limited production..
the HD is an SVT and a limited production.....
you need to relax...and not be so freakin negitive......i love the L...love the HD...just for me i need a 4door truck.....
if you want a real sports vehicle than buy the new cobra mustang.....anyway...

The HD truck IMO is just as bad. The whole rearview mirror thing, shows your not a true fan of your truck or Fords. It's just a fast truck and that's all you care about. IMO!

geez guys chill. why get all worried about the HD's and become all defensive and put down the HD's. Are you afraid that someday you'll meet one and be whooped by a crew cab? These are all great truck, and all fords. THe L's are still faster, and will probably get a bigger boost in HP in a year or two, so why complain so much. Not like they gave the HD more or equal hp to the L. They are expanding their market.

o yeah, another thing, we're all for truck owners here, you L guys are welcome anytime in the HD forum, so why are you tellin us to get out of the L area.

you need to chill dude, don't worry so much that the HEAVIER hd's with LESS hp have the same engine but DETUNED.

I guarantee that someone with an 02HD will have spent enough money to show you their tailights... There are a couple of guys now running 10lb lowers and looking at nitrous/works blowers. The L is the fastest production truck (for now) period. One bad a$$ peice of hardware no doubt. I don't have L envy. I love the truck and I always double/triple take when I see one. The truth doesn't hurt because I never intended my HD to be an L or to beat an L. No hurt feelings here. Just LOL at how ignorant you are. Have you checked the inside of the HD? Quite a bit more plush than your L. Some folks have to carry people along with them and/or want a crewcab/plush interior... I would have bought an L, but it wouldn't fit my needs.

But your ignorance is not the issue I wanted to address.

Consider this: The HD has the same motor as the L. Ford will have produced about 12,500 or so units this year. Ever heard of competition? More HDs equals more potential customers which equals more innovation which equals more competition in the aftermarket for L/HD parts n pieces. Do you have any aftermarket parts on your truck? I am curious how far your allowance has gotten you.
